This session’s award ceremony for S4, 5 and 6 pupils will take place on Friday 26th April at 1.45 in the school theatre. Parents of those receiving an award will be notified by text alert and letter. On the site you will find up-to-date information on jobs and courses, as well as tips on CV writing and interviews to help you explore your options and make the best decisions about your future.
My World of Work offers careers information to pupils and parents/carers when it’s needed most and especially at critical times of the school year such as when making subject choices, during exam results time or when applying to university or college.
The website is packed with practical advice and support for managing your career and getting a job. The online toolkits help every step of the way from career research to CV building:
- Use your strengths – use the My Strengths tool to learn what your strengths are and how to make the most of them. If you understand what you’re good at, making the right choices is easier
- Explore your options – check out Careers A-Z to find out all you need to know about the hundreds of different jobs out there. Have a look at Course Choices to see where different learning, training or volunteering options could take you

Student Study Planner
With SQA exams just around the corner, senior students should be well underway with a comprehensive study plan.
If you’ve not made a study plan yet, here is a simple plan to help you get started.

Free Distance Learning Courses
Reid Kerr College are offering a variety of free distant learning courses, more information can be found here.
With the exception of ECDL all courses are of nine weeks duration. No previous knowledge or experience of computers or the Internet is required. However, it would be advantageous if you had some basic IT skills.
Easter Revision Courses
Cardonald College are offering revision classes in a range of subjects. Bookings can be made online and discounts available depending on the number of subjects you sign up for.

Students should look to attend as many supported study sessions as they can and we would be grateful if parents/carers would encourage their child to attend.
S4, 5 & 6 Preliminary Examination 2013
Please find Barrhead High’s preliminary examinations timetable 2013 here.
Students should note the date and time of their examinations and ensure they arrive in school at least 30 minutes prior to their examination starting to allow for registration.
This means registering before 8.30am if your exam starts at 9am!
Litter Pick
A group of our senior pupils carried out a litter pick in the local area in response to requests from local residents. We are keen to work in partnership with our local community and we have more litter picks planned for the new year.
