After a short break and the many successes enjoyed by our team this year, the Debating club returns on Wednesdays Lunchtime for Juniors and Thursday after school for Seniors as we start preparation for upcoming debating competitions.
There might also the opportunity to represent Scotland in the English Speaking Union World Schools Competition which will take place in Thailand in 2014 as applications are now open.
If you are interested in debating and public speaking you are welcome to come along to room 35 at the start of lunchtime or Thursday at 3:45.
A short meeting will be held on Tuesday, 30th April to discuss the school ski trip to Pila, Italy in 2014. Students wishing more details can click here or attend the meeting in the school theatre on Tuesday.
S1 & S2 pupils are reminded that a homework club is on in Room 38 (English Dept) after school every Tuesday.
Staff will be on hand to provide support and help with homework tasks.
As part of their ‘Empty Lands’ unit, S2 were tasked with designing their own animal. Pupils had to understand how the climate and environment of the tundra, rainforest and desert have led to plants and animals adapting to the area.
Pupils were encouraged to use their imagination when designing the look of the animal – but the adaptations had to suit the climate region they live in.
All S2 pupils will have an interview with their own pastoral support teacher today to choose their options for Session 2012-2013. Nine subjects areas have to be selected and Parent/Carer’s will have to sign the final sheet which each pupil will be given. If any Parent/Carer wishes to discuss their child’s options please contact Mr Clyne – Year Head. The S2 options booklet is under Quick Links in the home page.
S2 pupils were a credit to the school last week as they took part in our annual ‘I Can Do Anything’ event. The event helps to raise awareness about a range of careers prior to pupils choosing their subject options. A special thank you to all the business delegates who gave up their own time to support our event. Many of the pupils expressed how interesting and useful they found the event.
