Duke of Edinburgh – Parents’ Evening
The Duke of Edinburgh team within Barrhead High are holding a parents’ information evening on Thursday, 10th March at 7pm.
If your son or daughter is currently undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award – either at Bronze or Silver level – then please come along to find out how the expeditions will be organised this year.
A letter expalining all of the above has been issued to all DofE students.
Duke of Edinburgh – Discounts
All DofE students are entitled to discounts at a number of different retailers.
The Duke of Edinburgh organisation have grouped these discounts into one website – www.dofeshopping.org
To qualify for the discount, students will need to enter their DofE reward card number. More info on obtaining a DofE reward card is here.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award
Well done to seventeen Barrhead High students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award – Practice Expedition at Whitelees Windfarm this week. The weather was abysmal, but the attitude, behaviour and effort of the students was first class! Well done to all involved and here’s hoping the assessed expedition in June 2013 has more favourable weather!!
New Duke of Edinburgh Award starting soon
There will be a new Duke of Edinburgh Group starting in the school on a Thursday night between 4pm and 6.30pm. This group is for those aged 14+ interested in achieving their bronze award. If you would like to join please pass your name to Miss Potter.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Congratulations to the following pupils who have gained their Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is a tremendous achievement and we are delighted with the commitment and hard work the young people have shown in pursuing this award.
Well done to them all.
A special mention to Richard Barr who achieved his Sliver Level Award.
The group are now working towards their Silver Level Award and have inspired others to get involved too.

Do you want to learn new skills? Do you want to improve your fitness? Do you enjoy volunteering or exploring the Scottish countryside, then Duke of Edinburgh Award maybe for you.
A new Duke of Edinburgh club starts in Barrhead High school next Thursday, 13th Sept, in Ralston. The club will run every Thursday from 7pm – 9.30pm. More information can be found on the Duke of Edinurgh website, but why don’t you come to the club next Thursday – it’s bound to be a lot of fun.
