Ailish Douglas is planning a sponsored swim at the Lagoon centre on the 22nd February 2013 to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland.
Ailish has set herself an ambitious target of 100 lengths of the pool. If you would like to contribute to Ailish’s effort, then please do so through Ailish’s just-giving page.
A group of our senior pupils, including Richard Barr, Christopher Buntin, Connor Donaghy, Andrew McLennan, David Dunwoodie, Fraser Black, Saud Khalil, Scott McCuish, Callum Aird, Dylan Jenks, Finlay Wright and Scott Wright, joined the Movember appeal and between them raised £732.02. Well done boys … and is is good to see your cleanshaven looks again!
We are currently looking for donations for our next tombola. Anyone wishing to make a donation should hand this into the school office by Monday, 5th March.
Despite the snow this morning Barrhead High School staff and pupils again generously supported our 7th Christmas Appeal – Bring a Tin. Six of our S6 Prefects collected the donations and they are now displayed in the Foyer. Further donations can be brought in on Monday thereafter the tins etc will be collected by staff from Barrhead Social Work Department and distributed over the Christmas holidays.
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED – you WILL make a difference to our Community.
See other photos in the Charities Pages of our Website.
Tomorrow is our 7th Annual Christmas Charity Appeal – Bring a Tin. This event is to support residents of Barrhead during the Christmas period. Our school Social Worker will, along with her colleagues, distribute our contributions during the 2 week Christmas holiday period. Pupils and staff are asked to bring in a donation of tins, sweets, biscuits, toiletries, pasta or a small financial contribution on Friday 16 December. To remind pupils it will also be a non-uniform day. This appeal has always been very generously supported. Photos will be on our website next week. Thanking you in advance for your support.
Barrhead High School is very grateful to ReUse It on Muriel Street, Barrhead (near the train station) who have allowed us to place a clothes recycle bin on their grounds to help raise cash for our school funds – so far we have raised £110.
If you have any old clothes or brick-a-brack please take it along to the recycle bin or bring it into school and help raise even more money for our school fund.
You can raise funds for Barrhead High School while you do your Christmas (or any other) shopping online through easyfundraising. All you need to do is log on to their site first and register – a two minute task! You will then be able to access many of the major online retailers eg Amazon, Argos, Debenhams, ebay, M&S, and many more. You will purchase at the normal price but the school will receive a percentage (usually 1-2%) of what you spend.
Barrhead High pupils and staff raised £315.86 for CHILDREN IN NEED by selling wristbands and keyrings. A big thank-you to S6 charity committee for supporting this event in their free time.
Andrew Paterson in S2 also raised money by staying silent all morning.
All pupils attended Remembrance Services today in our school Theatre. These services on Armistice Day were conducted by Mrs E Geddes, Mr J McHugh and Rev C Bonnar. S6 pupils were involved in selling poppies to staff and pupils and this money will be sent to the Royal British Legion.
