Barrhead High Pupils Arrive in Style

Almost every pupil turned up for the first day back in full uniform and it made for an impressive sight. Once again the local community were noticing and praising them and Barrhead High is rightly being recognised as an excellent school with excellent young folk.

A big thank you to all pupils and parents for supporting this.

The new PE polo shirts looked great. The uptake has been so good that Mans World have run out of stock … but more are on order.

If anyone has not yet managed to get the appropriate uniform or is having any difficulty doing so, please speak to your Pupil Support teacher or Year Head.

Another Record-Breaking Set of SQA Results for Barrhead High!

Barrhead High School has attained its best ever SQA results in three out of the four key measures.

Over 50% of the S4 yeargroup gained 5 or more Int 2 passes, up from last year’s best to date of 43% – a tremendous rise and improvement!

34% of S5 pupils achieved 3 or more Higher passes, beating last year’s best ever of 31%.

14% of the S5 pupils passed 5 Highers – a rise of 2% from last year but not quite matching our best ever 15% in 2012. Again 5 pupils achieved 5 A passes in their Highers.

25% of our S6 yeargroup passed at least one Advanced Higher beating last year’s best ever of 18%.

These are fantastic results rewarding the hard work of both pupils and staff with the support of our parents. Well done to all of you. We are very proud of our young people and I am sure you all are too.

SQA Results – Tuesday, 5th August

The SQA examination results will be available from Tuesday, 5th August. Mrs Crawford (Depute Head) will be available all of Tuesday to discuss any queries regarding SQA results or subject level changes.

Please contact the school office in the normal way if you have any queries regarding your results.

East Renfrewshire Young Team Clean Up

Only 2 weeks after winning the Voluntary Group of the Year category of the official East Renfrewshire Volunteer Awards 2014 organised by local MP Jim Murphy and MSP Ken MacIntosh, the Young Team were back in action cleaning up graffiti.

Over the session they have been involved in a number of projects which have helped give something back to the community of Barrhead and the East Renfrewshire area.

A big well done and thank you to all the young folk who have participated and a special thank you to our Campus Cop, Alan Walker, for leading this project.

Lunch Break Update

S1 have now become S2, and as such, they are now allowed to go to the Main St at lunch time. As with all pupils, they must return well before the 1.00pm warning bell. It is also important that all pupils meet the expectations of Barrhead High School regarding behaviour and attitude while they are out at lunch time.
If you have any conerns about this, please contact Mr Beaton.
