BHS Football Team’s New Strips
Barrhead High recently purchased two new sets of football strips – one for the boys and another for the girls.

Careers Fair – Wednesday, 20th March
Careers Fair – Wednesday 20th March 5.30-7.30pm.
The event promises to be an interesting and informative evening with representatives from universities, further education colleges and many other diverse careers present. We are confident that pupils considering course options and university/college applications will benefit from attending this event.
On the evening there will be stands for each of the represented organisations, where pupils and parents will be able to collect information and ask questions. There will also be an area designated Real People, Real Jobs, at which parent volunteers and others will answer questions about their own jobs.
Most of the exhibitors will be located in Grahamston and Ralston. Pupils and parents may also seek advice from Skills Development Scoland (formerly Careers Scotland) staff in the Community Wing, where a range of interactive careers material will be available to view.
Refreshments and Easter gifts will also be available on the evening organised by pupils who are busy fundraising at present towards the cost of the school trip to London.
We look forward to meeting you on the evening.
Active Sports (April – June)
Welcome to the East Renfrewshire Sports For All Ages programme for April – June 2013. We offer a wide range of activities for everyone from pre-school children to adults so there is sure to be something to keep you active. Have a look at our guide, pick your activities, get booking and enjoy a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Please note courses can be booked at any point during the block subject to availability. The course will be charged on a pro-rata basis.
Netball Success
A HUGE well done to the netball team!!!
On Tuesday, 12th March Barrhead High hosted a netball tournament against Woodfarm High School. The teams played three games, and Barrhead had a victory in every game!!!
The scores were 8 – 2 , 10 – 6, and 10 – 4.
Well done everyone, you all had a fantastic game!!
Also, well done do Briony Giblin who won the shooting competition.
If anyone would like to join the netball team, we train on a Monday after school from 3.45pm – 5pm.
All ages welcome and it doesn’t matter if you have never played before or you are a pro!

Parent Council Quiz Night – Fri, 22nd March
A reminder that the Parent Council will be hosting a quiz at Shanks Bowling club on Friday 22nd March from 7.30pm to help raise funds for the school. If you would like to join us – it is still not too late. Tickets can be purchased from the school office for £5 or at the door. Either come as a team, or join one on the night.
School Reopening – Update
The heating and dehumidifiers have been working all weekend, and by this afternoon, most of the areas affected last week, including the carpets, had dried out.
The school will, as expected, open at the usual time of 8.45 am tomorrow (Monday).

School Emergency Closure – Fri 15th March 2013
Thanks to all parents and carers for their support today when we were forced to operate our emergency closure procedures. If you have any feedback from this that might be helpful for the future, please let us know.
While some renovation work was being carried out in the school this morning, a mains water pipe fractured and caused significant flooding in one area of the school. Although most areas were unaffected directly, we were initially unable to stop the flow and were conscious that water had come in contact with electrical items, including our alarm system. To avoid any risk to the health and safety of all pupils and staff, we decided, in consultation with the Education Department, to close the school for the rest of the day.
I am pleased to inform you that due to the superb efforts of both our own janitorial staff and the wider East Renfrewshire Council team, most of the mess has already been cleared up and we now have the heating working 24 hours over the weekend and dehumidifiers operating. We are confident that we will be fully operational for 8.45 am on Monday morning.
If there is any change to that, we will signal it on the website and text all parents as soon as possible, but please, in the meantime, assume it will be “service as usual”!.

Barrhead High – School Closure
Barrhead High is having to close today due to serious flooding of parts of the school building. All students have been moved to safe areas of the school and staff are currently assisting students to make arrangements for going home early.
