Additional National 5 Maths revision materials have been added to the Maths Department’s website.
Students should use these resources to help them prepare for the upcoming National 5 Maths SQA exam.
Our first SQA exams commence tomorrow (Wed 4th May) with Lifeskills Maths for some S5/6 pupils.
S4 will see their diet kick off with National 5 English on Thursday (5th May), which is also the day for Higher and Advanced Higher English.
We are then in to what will be a fairly intense exam period for some pupils, with in some cases an exam a day and even for some the possibility of 2 exams on the same day (Business Management & Computing).
I wish all our pupils well and trust that the efforts made in class, at home, through Supported Study and Easter School, will now pay off and everyone achieves what they have worked hard for.
Pupils have been issued with individual timetables. Pupils in S4 with 5+ National 5 exams and all pupils in S5/6 may use the time that they do not have exams to work from home with their parents’ permission. They have also been informed about additional support sessions, usually organised for the day preceding each exam, when staff will be timetabled to be available to offer additional help. Please encourage your young person to take advantage of these.
Other pupils in S4 will have been given an individual timetable with additional activities during this period.
Pupils should be in full uniform if they come into school throughout the exam period whether they are in for exams or in to seek additional help. In the latter case they must sign in at the school office so we know they are in the building.
Mr Sinclair
Please find Barrhead High School’s S3 Exam Timetable.
The exams start on the 3rd of May and finish on the 13th of May.
All of the exams are for National 5 students unless stated. Other than Maths, Admin and ICT and English, all exams will last for one period and take place during the scheduled class time. The timetable follows the students own class timetable – students should only attend exams where they have that subject on their timetable. For a select number of their exams the pupils will sit their assessment in the exam hall (Ralston or the Games Hall) as indicated on the timetable. Pupils should go straight to the exam hall when scheduled for exams and will be registered in the exam hall itself.
The S3 exams are an opportunity for teachers and students to gauge how well their pupils are coping at this stage in the broad general education while offering the students an opportunity to experience sitting in an exam hall; an experience that will stand them in good stead as they prepare for the challenges that lie ahead in fourth and fifth year and beyond.
Please ensure that the students are prepared as well as possible for the exams and support them at home as they learn to cope with the pressure and challenge of formal examinations. I am sure that they will find the experience rewarding and informative.
Thank you:
SDS Employment Fayre running in conjunction with the Work East Renfrewshire and various other Partners / Employers, which will be held within the Foundry on Sunday 22nd May.
To support all of our S4, S5 and S6 students who will be undertaking SQA examinations over the next month, we have organised a Master Class Timetable.
Master Classes give students the opportunity to meet with their teachers the day before the SQA examination. Students can use these classes for personal study, examination advice or as a final opportunity to revise parts of their course with the teacher.
Students are also welcome to attend school at any time during the study leave period to complete personal study.
