WiFi up and running

We now have 60 notebooks, which are all WiFi enabled, being used in 2 areas of the school – top corridor (English, French, Social Subjects) and Science corridor.  Mrs Richardson’s S1 English class had the opportunity to try out the new notebooks.

Quotes – ‘yes it is much quicker’ – ‘I think it has been better using the computer because you can do the work in your own class’ – ‘I think the computers in class will help our research skills’ – ‘I think it was fun’ – ‘ it helps because you do not have to share’ – ‘ I like the laptop because I like being in the class with all my materials.’

Morgan Stanley Glasgow: Finance Apprenticeship Programme 2017

Due to the success of our previous Programmes in the Glasgow Office, we are now open for applications for the Finance Apprenticeship 2017 and the Technology Apprenticeship 2017.

The Apprenticeships, which are aimed at school leavers, provide an alternative to University for those who are both ambitious and academically strong, offering the chance to study towards a qualification, whilst gaining practical industry experience and earning a salary.

I include further details below to share with your S5 and S6 students.

Morgan Stanley Glasgow: Finance Apprenticeship Programme 2017

 This is a 3 year programme beginning September 2017, during which students are supported through the ACCA Foundation Diploma qualification, whilst developing both their technical and soft skills within a work environment.

The ACCA qualification provides students with practical accounting and financial skills while developing their grasp of business.  It is designed to give students the opportunity to learn the theory of accounting while putting it into practice too.

Minimum criteria for the programme is:4 Higher Grades at BBBC (1 sitting) or 4 Higher Grades at BBBB (2 sittings), including Maths and English. Maths must be at a grade B minimum.

Morgan Stanley Glasgow: Technology Apprenticeship Programme 2017

 This is a 4 year programme beginning September 2017, during which students are supported to attain a degree within BSc (Hons) IT Management for Business, in order to provide theoretical and practical management skills within the IT environment, as well as insight into the financial world.

The degree course has been granted professional accreditation – Awarded Tech Industry Gold by Tech Partnership. Tech Industry Gold degrees are defined by employers to provide students with the technical, business and interpersonal skills that place them in high demand in the technology sector.

Minimum criteria for the programme is: 4 Higher Grades at BBBB, including Computing or Maths, plus English.

We would like to invite candidates who meet the selection criteria of 2 Highers (or equivalent) in Chemistry AND Biology or an NC in a Science Subject (SQF Level 6) to attend an information session about the Modern Apprenticeship Medical Laboratory Assistant role.

We anticipate that these vacancies will open for application no later than week commencing 14th November 2016

Attendance is not mandatory for applicants and is not part of the selection process however places are limited and must be booked in advance.

We will confirm slots allocated no later than 12 Noon on Friday 11th November.  This will be an evening event and a parent or carer is welcome to accompany you.
