Duke of Edinburgh

This session a small group of pupils are working towards achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is being supported by parents of the group and Young People Services. We would like to congratulate the group on their race night which raised a whopping £875 – well done to all involved.

Senior boys steal a sensational victory

The under-15 boys made a number of changes to their starting five due to injuries to Stewart Booth and Jon Faulds. The players coming in upped their game and demonstrated why Coach Van Looy had picked them for the starting five. As the game progressed their was excellent defending from Craig Campbell and Marc McKinnie.  At the other end, Stuart Faulds controlled the play, Dylan Jenks did some excellent work taking numerous rebounds. In the end, Eastwood’s top scorer proved to much to handle, with successive 3-pointers late in the game. Eastwood High ran out eventual winners after a thoroughly entertaining game.

The senior boys then took to the court. With only 5 senior boys eligible to play the match the game got off to a slow start – 12 points a piece at the half way stage. The game continued to be tied at the end of the 3rd quarter; 22 all. In to the 4th quarter and Barrhead pushed for the win, Fraser Black stepped up with a big 3-pointer (13 points in total). This proved to be the difference in the end and Barrhead won the match 30 -31.

A fantastic effort by the 5 senior players – Ahmed Crawford, Fraser Black, Scott MacCuish, Colin Redmond and Calum MacIssac. Congratulations to Dylan Jenks and Craig Campbell who both made their senior debuts.
