S3 Exam Timetable
The S3 exam diet will take place between the 30th of April and the 11th May. Over the exam fortnight our S3 will get their first experience of examinations. They will sit a selection of single and double period assessments in their subjects at the level they are currently studying.
The exams will give the S3 an opportunity to practise their exam technique under timed conditions. Some of the exams will take place in the Games Hall currently being used for the ‘real’ SQA exams. With the N5 exams having increased in duration recently, this is a vital experience for our S3 students as they develop their exam technique and experience the reality of exam pressure a year ahead of the final exams.
Students and parents/carers can click on the link below to see the exam timetable in full. Remember, the timetable covers all of the exams taking place for every pupil – pupils will only sit the exams that take place when they have that subject in their timetable.
Easter School Arrangements
We are delighted to announce that our Easter School arrangements have been finalized for this year.
Over the last few weeks the senior students have been signing-up for revision classes in a variety of subjects.
We hope that students make the most of this opportunity, and make great strides in their learning as they prepare for their SQA examinations.
The school office will be open during school hours and a Depute Head Teacher will be available should you have any concerns or questions.
Pi Day Competitions
A number of S1 and S2 students have been memorising Pi in preparation of today – PI DAY 2018.
Well done to Blair who set a new Barrhead High School record of 104 decimal places!!
Aiysha did very well, coming second only to Blair, by reciting Pi to 33 decimal places, and winning the girls prize!
It’s STEM Week 2018
This week is British Science Week 2018 – celebrating everything STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths).
In school, all students will be given a presentation highlighting some amazing science facts, and given the opportunity to get involved in a science treasure hunt (prizes for the winners!).
For parents, discussing STEM skills and careers is a great way to inspire your child. We hope this STEM Careers Activity Pack will help with this.

Duke of Edinburgh – Parents’ Information Evening
All S3 DOFE students should have attended an important meeting at lunch time today (Wed, 7th March).
At the meeting students were given:
- A letter detailing an upcoming Parents’ Information Evening.
- A DOFE Consent Form that should be returned to Mr Boag as soon as possible.
If a student has missed either of these letters, can they collect a copy from Mr Boag.

S4 Option Choices
Over the next few weeks all S4 students will be looking at the subjects they wish to continue studying in 5th year.
The following booklets explain what courses are available to students:
3. Foundation Apprenticeship courses
Each student will have an interview with either their Pastoral Support Teacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to help them with their decision.
If students are unclear about what a particular course involves, then they are welcome to ask for advice from a teacher or principal teacher of that subject.
