Advanced Higher

The Advanced Higher course consists of:

Unit 1 –  Cell and Molecular Biology

Unit 2 –  Environmental Biology

Unit 3 –  Physiology, Health and Exercise

At the end of each unit a NAB (National Assessment Bank) Test is undertaken pupils. They are required to pass the tests for each unit with a re-sit test being given if required.

Pupils are also required to do a LO3 (Learning Outcome 3). This is a fully written up report on a practical experiment undertaken in class.

A Biology investigation worth 20% of the overall course mark is carried out.

Pupils sit a final examination at the end of the year, which examines Knowledge and Understanding and Problem Solving.

Homework

Homework is used to consolidate knowledge and develop key skills. This is issued on a regular basis.
