Cooking- Yesterday we’ve been doing cooking with Miss Harrison.We’ve made lots of different foods like pizza, stuffed pepper, spring rolls and even dough balls!.It is really fun because you can partner up with a friend so you could work together.Cooking is one of the BEST things that class P6.23 will remember.🙂

Pomander- Today we were doing pomanders.Pomanders is a orange with cloves sticking out of the orange with a ribbon(optional).If you want to make it at home this is how you make it, first you get a orange after you get a toothpick and prick holes into the orange with any pattern you want then stick cloves into the holes you pricked into then it will smell really nice.So the orange doesn’t go mouldy add some cinnamon try to get it into the orange. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!🎅🏼🎄

Among us – As part as our Christmas party we play among us like bingo. You have a grid like a bingo card with 7 letters  A,B,C,D,E,F and  G and then we had 7 numbers down the way. There were lots of items such as the original among us character which meant you could steal someone else’s points. Then there was the present which meant you could generously give 50 points tosomeone else. Also a bomb when your points would go down to zero instantly.We recently have been doing coordinates which are the Y axes and the X axes. The Y axes is the one up the side and the X axes is the one along the bottom. Our coordinate’s worksheet turned out to be the Grinch. Now Andrew will tell you about the Grinch movie that we watched. The Grinch –After among us it was lunch time and after that, it was our movie we watched the Grinch it was really funny. Everybody enjoyed the Grinch it was a good movie our favourite characters were the Grinch and Max the dog. Andrew

Primary 6 have been learning how to blend and create an ombré effect using watercolours.

Recently we have played Kahoot in class, we did a quiz on area and perimeter. A pupil from our class had made a quiz themselves and we played it. After that we did another quiz on area and perimeter but it was a little bit harder, and everyone tried their best to come in top 5. There were 10 to 16 questions on the quizzes. For each question there was a timer of 60 seconds, we all tried our hardest to get on the podium!                     

We all had great fun doing the quizzes, even if we didn’t make it onto the podium or leaderboard.

In school for second term we have been learning about the planet Earth and the great Pacific garbage patch. To showcase our learning we made some posters, pictures, raps and more. We have learned about gyres and how plastic ends up in the ocean. It is twice the size of Texas and three times the size of France!!!

If plastic is dropped or blows away it ends up in the ocean. This is not good as it can pollute the ocean and animals may mistake the rubbish for food. Approximately the great pacific garbage patch has 80,000 tons of plastic in it!!! It covers 1.6 million square kilometres!

Gyres keep waste circling in the ocean.

In class we are reading a book called Sky Song by Abi Elphinstone it is all about a girl called Eska and she was kidnapped by an evil ice queen .So far the book is very interesting so far we made some predictions about what will happen next some of us thought that Eska ‘s  friend Flints tribe would save her but some of thought Flints tribe would accept her. We also made our own maps & book covers!

We finally got our new book the news ones are so detailed and really nice it is the exact same book but a new cover. Here are them compared:

We do questions every week on the book we are on chapter 12 & 13 here’s a picture . We also do sequencing here’s a picture . We also do Fact retrieval & word analysis.

Last week in class we were designing our own maps for a story for next lesson! We discussed what characters, setting and structure for our maps. First we did our rough sketch on our whiteboards then our jotters as well as discussing characters and settings such as desert or forests. We brainstormed ideas with are partners for our stories and final decision.

We then took a sheet of card, some coloured tissue paper and scrap paper. We then drew out the islands/setting and coloured it in. We then made it 3D with our glue, scissors, tissue, scrap paper and our colouring tools like pencils. We made accessories such as palm trees, dinosaurs, volcanoes and boats! We all enjoyed this very much! I am very excited for when we write out our story.  

I am hoping more of our writing lessons will be similar to this as it was very fun!!!!!
