This week has been another busy one! We have been beginning to try aspects of the integrated day which offers us opportunities to pick what order we want to do our tasks in.

We have done some learning about COP26 in preparation for the event. In teams we came up with an idea for campaign as our P7 focus is climate action. We thought about how we can take action in our community . We came up with lots of highly creative ideas,

– Tackling littering and rubbish

– Encouraging green spaces

– Planting trees and plants

– Sharing the impact of climate change

– Innovating plastic packaging

– More bins in the community

Our Week

Decimal number line – During active maths we ordered fractions on a number line.  We were focusing on hundredths fractions. In this activity we made cards using decimals, fractions and percentages on them. Then we drew lines on our desks so that we could sort them from smallest to largest. Then we jumbled them up and went to other tables and sorted their number line in order.🙂

We also spent time outdoors today doing maths, we learned about thousandths fractions, multiplying 4 digits by 1 digit and equations.

.

We also did our solo talks this week and many of us did a fantastic job of presenting on our chosen WW2 topic.

The weekly Showcase

For our work this week got the head teacher award after 1 year!!!

We made our board for maths week about a famous mathematician called Hipparchus. He focussed on triangles and the angles in them. We also Figured out for our Gastronomy topic that our meal ingredients took roughly 27, 500km just for 1 meal. Finally we went outside and estimated how many trees were on our school grounds using grid referencing. It turns out our school grounds capture 14,000kg of carbon each year which is excellent.

Wednesday (Maths week)

On Wednesday 7.27 completed their outdoor adventure by going to several different locations and looking at their map and then counting the trees around them. 7.27 counted an amazing amount of trees on our school grounds. We start trying to calculate how many trees there was and  how much Carbon Dioxide it they could capture.

P.E and Writing

For PE we have been working so hard. We all have been doing workouts it has been really hard.  We  first did a starter which we had to get into a group and make a PE  workout. We created 16 counts of exercise which we demonstrated to the class. Then we had to do some activities in a pair the first person had to run, jog, walk and skip around the pitch. Then the other person had to do some mini workouts for 45 seconds at 10 stations. After that we were all so tired.

For our class novel we have been reading Letters from the Lighthouse.  It is based on ww2 in London. We have only read up to chapter 2, it is really interesting. It is such a good book. I think our whole class is enjoying this book.

Cooking

This week half the class went and did some cooking in the kitchen. When they were there they cooked delicious tomato pasta. Then once they had done that they plated it up in a fine dining style. Here are a few photos.

On Tuesday the chairs went on strike so we had to sit on our desks, which was fun. Then we had to write them a persuasive letter to convince them to come back. They did eventually come back. Here are a few photos of us sitting on our desks thinking about the reasons why they left.

Adam & James

This week we have been painting pictures inspired by Picasso. We have been discovering different shapes and drawing techniques. we had a great time painting with different bold colours.  We  have been making our class charter, the theme was jungle. So we created some animals to hang up one the vines, we also had leaves on the vines saying the child’s rights and our class rules are on the class charter. We had a fun time making the animals.
