Sports Day
We had a brilliant time at Sports Day! We all worked so hard and tried our best. It was a great day! Well done for Isabella for winning first place in the races 😁❤️
Mearns Master – Papyrus paper!
3.11 did a great job collecting brown paper bags and newspapers for our papyrus paper. Thank you again for everyone with your help with this.
We decided we would like to make papyrus paper as part of our designers pathway. We collected in paper to help us recycle and reuse paper.
Next we got very messy and had lots of fun creating our own paper! We used brown paper bags and glue to achieve this.
We then decorated it using paint, pens and glitter. We chose designs links to the importance of recycling and reusing paper.
The results were fantastic!
The Iron Man Project
P3.11 did a wonderful job when collecting and sorting empty crisp packets that will be transformed into survival blankets for homeless people this winter. The blankets will be made by ‘The Iron Man’ organisation, who use an ironing technique, crisp packets and plastic sheets to create waterproof sleeping bag liners and blankets. During this project, we learned about heat reflective materials and also found an effective way to reuse crisp packets in our school and homes.
Mearns Masters Cooking
We had so much fun cooking (and eating!) breakfast items in the kitchen during our Gastronomers pathway!
Christmas Story Writing!
We took a virtual trip to the North Pole to help us with our storywriting ideas!
Science
This term we have been working hard and having lots of fun doing Science. We’ve learned about materials and their properties. We have designed and made mini umbrellas, which we then tested by pouring water over them. We were very happy to discover that most of them worked really well and came up with ideas of how to improve the ones that didn’t work.
We have talked about living and non-living things. We are able to tell what the features of living things are and sort them into different categories and explain our decision.
We have also looked at the examples of forces (pushing, pulling and twisting) in the classroom and in the playground, predicting how applying more or less force would change the speed and direction at which objects moves.
Hansel and Gretel Writing
Today we watched a clip of Hansel and Gretel and then we wrote sentences about the different characters. We described what they looked like, their personality and what they did in the story!
2D Shapes!
Stick Pictures!
We love using our creativity and imagination to make stick pictures during play!
