We love a Monday morning with our specialist P.E teacher, Mrs McCarron. We were jumping hurdles, performing different balances, moving in different ways across a bench, jumping on a spring board and using hula hoops. Mrs Stephenson loves snapping pictures of us showing off our skills.
Update
Reindeer Jars
Thank you very much for handing in your glass jars. We now have enough for the Christmas Fayre 😊🎄
Homework
I am meeting with the rest of the p1 teachers tomorrow to discuss the current format of homework & parental feedback we have received. Once I have had this meeting, I will add a homework post to the blog to ensure there is a general understanding amongst parents. Your feedback is always very much appreciated.
Communication
We check homework diaries each morning so please continue to write notes if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to meeting with you at next week’s parents evening to discuss your child’s progress.
Have a great week,
Mrs Stephenson
Busy bees !
We are busy here in Primary 1. We’re learning 3 new sounds each week and are now using these sounds to make words. We are also beginning to read many words using the sounds we have learned, they’re everywhere !
Please support your children by going over their homework each night, revise sounds and encourage them to read and make new words.
Remembrance Day
Today at 11am the whole school observed a minutes silence. During discussions P1.4 demonstrated a good understanding of the purpose of Remembrance Day and were very respectful while the silence was held. Mrs Stephenson was very proud of them ☺️
Autumn
It was a beautiful day today and we decided to enjoy it and go on an autumn walk. The children found many sign of autumn.
Maths
We loved using the iPads last week. We played a game called ‘ King of Maths’ which challenged our counting and adding skills. We are also learning about time and can read ‘o’clock’ and ‘half past’ on an analogue clock.
Literacy
During our Literacy time we are revising our single sounds, learning digraph and having a go at making words 👍
Halloween
We had a great time admiring each others costumes and crazy hair today.
Christmas Fayre
In the coming weeks we are going to begin our Christmas jars to go on sale at the Christmas Fayre. Please donate any unwanted glass jars you have (with the lid). When dropping children off please send these in with them to be handed straight to either Mrs Stephenson or Mrs O’Donnell (to ensure none are left in bags). We are needing 24 in total.
Thank you,
Mrs Stephenson ☺️
ICT
During our ICT time we have been working on logging in and improving our mouse control skills. Today almost all of us managed to successfully log in without teacher support 😁 💃🏼
