Active Spelling

We had a fabulous morning revising our sight words. There were 6 stations that the children tried out:

1. Writing words in shaving foam

2. Making words with magnetic letters

3. Playing games on Nessy on our class laptops

4. Building words using spelling cubes

5. Rainbow writing words

6. reading books and spotting our words

The foam station was the most enjoyed because it was a little messy and fun to try out!

Easter treat!

As a treat for Easter, Miss Hunter organised for us to watch a pantomime! We really enjoyed watching it this afternoon. We also had some fun tasks to do related to the pantomime like a colour by number maths sheet for one of the fish characters and a wordsearch to look for the words and the characters from the pantomime.
What a lovely afternoon! 🎭

STEM – Domino Run

We were invited to watch the cereal box domino run. Whilst waiting we looked at the clouds and Ibrahim spotted a cloud that he thought looked like Santa’s sleigh. ☁️ πŸŽ…πŸ»

Then the cereal box domino run started, it was super fun to watch! πŸ₯£ πŸ“¦

STEM – germ experiments

Today we continued looking at germs. We conducted a bread experiment and can’t wait to see what happens next week! We had 4 slices of bread: 1 slice wasn’t touched by anyone and Miss Davidson wore gloves and put it in a bag, 1 slice was touched by everyone with unclean hands, 1 slice was touched by everyone after they had washed their hands, and the last slice was wiped on the desks and laptops. I’m sure we will spot some germs and mould soon! 🦠😬

After, Miss Davidson β€œcoughed” on everyone using the airzooka gun and we discussed the importance of using our hands or elbows for coughs and washing our hands.

We then created posters about our learning and the importance of washing our hands!

STEM Visit

Fiona Hawthorn from Network Rail joined us virtually to tell us about her job. It was really interesting to learn about what’s involved in her job, engineering, technology and transport!

We got the opportunity to ask questions too and we came up with some brilliant questions.

We were then tasked with designing our own train of the future. πŸš‚ 🚞 πŸš†
