After making pancakes we wrote recipes for them. We looked at some recipes and how they were laid out and what we had to put in a recipe. Some lovely recipes followed.

Thers’s been a whole lot of symmetry going on in our class.
We had visitors from JP Morgan today telling us about a competition they are holding. The boys and girls have been invited to create their own App. The App which is liked best will then be created by a team of experts and added to the App Store. This week, a template will be sent home in your child’s homework folder. If your child completes this they can return it to school by 13th February to be included in the competition.
.
Well done to Logan and Casey who took part in the Burns competition today, this was a house challenge.
The class enjoyed learning Ye Jacobites by Robert Burns. Perhaps they could sing it to you at home !
We’ve been playing maths games . Snakes and ladders has been popular. It’s a great way of counting without realising you’re doing it !
We played in the nursery playground this afternoon. Lots of the children loved being back in their old nursery playground. Others enjoyed seeing it and playing in it. It was lovely to see how much fun the children were having on the pirate ship, in the sandpit, making soup in the mud kitchen and being free to choose where they wanted to play.
We are busy here in Primary 1. We’re learning 3 new sounds each week and are now using these sounds to make words. We are also beginning to read many words using the sounds we have learned, they’re everywhere !
Please support your children by going over their homework each night, revise sounds and encourage them to read and make new words.
It was a beautiful day today and we decided to enjoy it and go on an autumn walk. The children found many sign of autumn.
We loved using the iPads last week. We played a game called ‘ King of Maths’ which challenged our counting and adding skills. We are also learning about time and can read ‘o’clock’ and ‘half past’ on an analogue clock.
We had a great time admiring each others costumes and crazy hair today.
