Draw-a-long

Today we started off by looking at different ancient Egyptian coffin designs and discussing their appearance and who it might have inside. We had some great discussion about detail, wealth and gender.
We then took part in a draw-a-long with the National Museums of Scotland. We drew ancient Egyptians coffins. We added our own detail and colour at the end.

Outdoor time

What a glorious day to spend outside for outdoor learning today! The sun didn’t stop shining and helped make our learning even more fun!

We started off with some warm up games to make sure we know which way is left and which way is right.

After that we organised ourselves into time order then stood at the correct positions round our giant clock.

Once we had made numbers for our clock we learned about how the big hand goes round the clock one whole turn every hour while the little hand only moves round one next mover each hour.

We then played a hunting game to match digital times with the analogue time on our giant clock.

Finally we tried to make some shadow numbers with our bodies to go round our clock…..it was much trickier than it sounds!

Active Spelling

We had a fabulous morning revising our sight words. There were 6 stations that the children tried out:

1. Writing words in shaving foam

2. Making words with magnetic letters

3. Playing games on Nessy on our class laptops

4. Building words using spelling cubes

5. Rainbow writing words

6. reading books and spotting our words

The foam station was the most enjoyed because it was a little messy and fun to try out!
