Thers’s been a whole lot of symmetry going on in our class.
Month: January 2020
The App competition
We had visitors from JP Morgan today telling us about a competition they are holding. The boys and girls have been invited to create their own App. The App which is liked best will then be created by a team of experts and added to the App Store. This week, a template will be sent home in your child’s homework folder. If your child completes this they can return it to school by 13th February to be included in the competition.

Transport
Our new class topic is ‘transport’. Today, we conducted a traffic survey to see how many different vehicles we could see on the road. There were a lot of cars but we didn’t see any bicycles or motorbikes. The children said it was probably too cold for them 🥶
The Burns Competition
Well done to Logan and Casey who took part in the Burns competition today, this was a house challenge.
The class enjoyed learning Ye Jacobites by Robert Burns. Perhaps they could sing it to you at home !
Handwriting
Today we were focusing on our handwriting. We are writing a lot more in our jotters now and it’s important that our letters are formed correctly. We did a fantastic job and took on the feedback we were given to make improvements. 🤩
Education City
All children have now had their Education City username and passwords sent home with them (these can be found on homework diaries). If you have paid for home access, you will be able to play games from home. Otherwise, the children will have opportunities to explore the site during our ICT time and during free choice in class 🙂
Phonics Detectives
We have been using our special detective magnifying glasses to look for different digraphs in some of our library books. When we find the digraph we have been challenging ourselves to try and read the full word it belongs to 👍🏻.
Construction
Our class love to build! Our structures range from being houses, cities, boats, bridges and even aeroplanes ! Sometimes we face design challenges while we build, one example was when we were trying to build a bridge which a boat could travel under. These challenges allow us to collaborate and problem solve 🙂
Teamwork
During our street P.E time today we focused on teamwork. One of our challenges was to move a hula hoop around our team’s circle WITHOUT letting go of each other’s hands.
After a few tries we became a lot faster and a lot more competitive.
I spy 👀
Attached is a video from the NHS raising awareness for improving mental health. Can you spot one of our boys 🤩?
Well done C!
