The children often draw, write or make something in our mark making area. This might relate to the sound or number that we’ve focussed on. We’ve got a lot of children who are keen to draw too.

In our roleplay area we opened a hairdressers today. We enjoyed getting some lovely styles for the weekend !

The children are using their new phonics knowledge to make words.

On Wednesday afternoons we visit the music room with our specialist music teacher Mrs Fingland.

Today we were learning the names of lots of different instruments.
We were a little tired at the beginning of this lesson after a busy morning (and chasing our friends at lunchtime), but Mrs Fingland was able to energise us with some fun activities 👍🏻
We have made a few changes in our classroom to help maintain our engagement and extend our learning.
-Our role play corner is now a class shop where we are learning about different coins.
-For construction we are now using Kapla and are having lots of fun creating different structures. It is also proving to be beneficial for our team working skills!
-As we are learning numbers to 20, we now have a magnetic dart board which is very popular ! We throw our darts and have to call the number we land on.
We love to play and learn 🙂

Today we learned the sound ‘r’. We wrote the letter underneath our rabbits and identified different objects with ‘r’ as their initial sound. When writing our letters, we are making sure we start from the right place. This is very important! We also enjoyed printing some letters with paint and making words!

We have made some little coloured pouches for you to keep your numbers safe inside your folder.
Please chop up the numbers and place them inside the pouches. Thank you!

We had lots of conkers which we were patiently waiting to open. The children loved seeing the chestnuts which were inside. They had fabulous describing words to say what they looked like – shiny, smooth, giant …..

If you find anything which is a sign of autumn eg. leaves changing colour, chestnuts etc please bring them into school and we can share them with the class.
We are continuing to practise writing our names. Before we do so we make sure we are holding our pencils correctly.

We’ve been using the magnetic letters to make new words.

We spent a lot of time in the playground today -opening our chestnuts and enjoying our values playtime. So we stayed in class and did some Cosmic Yoga for P.E uThe. children loved it ! We’ll definitely be doing it again.
