Interdisciplinary Learning

Scotland in Focus

Each November, S3 pupils take part in the Scotland in Focus unit – an interdisciplinary project involving all subjects across the school. Here is a snapshot of what the Technical Department have produced.

2018

This year we decided to change things up a bit having produced our word images for a few years now. Since we now have a laser cutter in the department, we decided to incorporate this into our project. This year S3 Graphics pupils designed and made a keyring which would promote an aspect of Scottish tourism or culture. They also designed some packaging to go with the keyring using Desktop Publishing software called Serif Page Plus. Here are some of the results.

2017

Within the Technical department, pupils used Serif Page Plus – a desktop publishing program – to create word pictures. Pupils researched Scottish language and used these words to create an image which reflects Scotland.

The images above were created by Michaela Cochrane, Cara McGinley and Saul Callan.
