Higher French

Bonjour à tous,

Below is some information to help you with your studies.

Useful vocab – ma famille me manquerait – I  would miss my family
mes amis me manqueraient – I would miss my friends
Je voudrais élargir mes horizons – I would like to expand my
horizons (reason to travel / work abroad)
Je me suis bien entendu(e) – I got on well with

So here are some of the topics you should have some specific language on for speaking:

Family and Friends (relationships, chores etc)
Peer pressure / problems facing young people (smoking, drinking, drugs, racism, gang culture – you could also bring media in here).
Technology (mobile phones, internet use, tv)
Learning (school subjects, opinions, studying a language and benefits)
Future plans (gap year, plans for university/studies, would you like to live abroad)
Work (Pocket money, part time job, future career plans).
Environment could be a curve ball (have a couple ideas just in case)

Remember within your speaking you should include a range of tenses, even if it is just a couple of phrases.

So remember!:

C’est – It is
C’était – It was
Ce serait – it would be

J’aime – I like
J’ai aimé – I liked
J’aimerais – I would like

Je veux – I want
J’ai voulu / Je voulais – I wanted

Je peux – I can
J’ai pu / je pouvais – I could
