FAMILY OPEN AFTERNOON
In Term 1 we had a Family Open Afternoon where pupils completed rotational activities to build skills and develop understanding on Transport. Thank you to all who attended.

TRANSPORT TOPIC – SPECIAL VISIT
We had a special visit from Police Officers Frazer and Chris who kindly showed us their police car as part of our topic. We enjoyed having a seat in the car, hearing the siren and seeing the flashing lights.

OUTDOOR LEARNING – Play
In Primary 2 we understand the importance of outdoor play for our physical, mental and emotional development. We have enjoyed opportunities on the pitch to engage in physical activities, which are crucial for building strong muscles, bones and improving coordination.

OUTDOOR LEARNING – SAND AREA
The natural environment stimulates children’s imagination and creativity and allows for lots of opportunity for social interaction and cooperation. Here are some photos of us exploring our sand area in the playground. Children have enjoyed making tunnels, creating sand cakes, looking for worms in the mud and testing our boats for our topic.

ART – OUTDOORS
Primary 2 have enjoyed opportunities this Autumn season to express themselves creatively and work collaboratively on outdoor art activities. This has not only enhanced their artistic skills but helped them foster a deeper connection with the world around them. The children enjoyed using twigs, leaves, berries, stones etc. to create amazing Autumn themed picture frames.

PE – BALL SKILLS
Developing small ball and large ball skills in Primary 2 builds children’s core physical literacy, supporting coordination, confidence, teamwork, and readiness for more complex movement and sports later in school.

MATHS – SHAPE
Pupils in Primary 2 have been learning to identify, name, describe, compare and use 2D and 3D objects, including recognising their features and exploring how shapes fit together in patterns.

CLASS ROUTINES
In Term 1 we discussed and created our classroom charter to establish a shared, rights-based framework that promotes respect, responsibility and a positive classroom culture. We decided to link it with our new school values. Pupils have been working hard to follow the values and some have been rewarded certificates at assembly for demonstrating these. In our classroom we have continued the ‘parrot’ theme and have Percy the parrot explaining what we are learning and Sally showing us how to be a successful learner. We will use these throughout our learning in primary 2.
