Today we had a glorious day for our annual prize giving.

Here are some photos from our sports day yesterday.

It wasn’t the best weather but we still had fun! 😁

P1/2 are learning about Under the Sea.   Mrs Purdie kindly bought us some toy sharks that actually grow in our sea tray.  We decided we would measure them each day this week.  Before measuring with cubes, we all made an estimate of how many cubes long it was.  Some of our estimates were a little too big!

Day 1 – the sharks measured 6 cubes long.

We also tested out our estimation and measuring skills on pictures of sea creatures.

Day 2 of our shark measuring was done by Mrs Purdie as we  were off school.   They both measured 8 cubes long – they had grown 2 cubes longer in a day!

Day 3 – one of the sharks is now 9 cubes long and the other is 10  cubes long!

These are small measures so we challenged ourselves at estimating and measuring some of our classmates!

We counted all the cubes with Miss McLaren to see how long the pupils actually were.

Day 4 – we measured our sharks today after the weekend.  They had both grown again!  They are both now 11 cubes long!!

Today (Monday) we also decided to do an even bigger challenge of measuring the length of Mrs Purdie.  Again we made an estimate and then measured her length in cubes.

Mrs Purdie and Miss Dwyer built us a den to play in at lunchtime.  We had great fun in it!

Then in the afternoon we had a NOSE and SPOON race with some obstacles thrown in! (A little cheating going on too!🙈)  It was hilarious!😂

We can’t wait to welcome back all P4-7 pupils!

• 9am –  All pupils will enter school through gate at Community Centre.
  *Please don’t arrive before 8.45am and ensure that a teacher or classroom assistant is present before leaving pupils. 

Home time:

*P1/2 pupils and their siblings will leave through the morning gate.
*P3-7 pupils will leave by the single gate at the other side of the Medical Centre car park.

**If you arrive before 3pm then please either let the member of staff outside know or phone the school and your child will be sent out.  This helps to avoid crowding at the gates.

Since Mrs North wasn’t in school on Thursday then we asked her to pick the Top 3 Funniest/Strangest places to read on Friday.  Mrs North had all the photos with the faces covered so she was only looking at the locations.  Here are her top 3 (in no particular order):

Whether we were at school or home, we all had fun on World Book Day.   We were dressed up as book characters and reading our books in strange/funny places.  Even the staff  joined in!  See for yourselves below:   👀

To celebrate this day, we are asking that pupils in P1-3 and the Hub come in dressed as a character from  a book or comic.  Please can it be a simple costume with NO accessories (due to COVID restrictions) and whatever you have in the house.  *Pupils don’t have to join in as it’s just a bit of fun.

Pupils learning from home are also encouraged to join in and post a photo of their costumes on their Class Teams.

There will be a competition running that day for the Top 3 funniest places to read and winners will be announced on Friday 5th March.  Where is the funniest/strangest place to read a book?  Get creative!  Photos will be taken of P1-3 and the Hub pupils within the school and grounds.  Again we’d encourage Home Learning pupils to participate and post their photos on their Class Teams or if they want them to remain secret then email them directly to the Class Teacher.

I hope that everyone will take part and I look forward to seeing how inventive you can be with your reading places.
