With home-learning in place from January 2021, the start of our project was delayed until August. We made this decision as we knew we wouldn’t have time to complete the project before pupils moved on to their new timetable in May/June.
While we were waiting to start, we got in touch with our storyteller, Betty Skelton, who agreed to provide pre-recorded workshops and activities to support pupils with the project. We also reached out to author and Scots language enthusiast, Matthew Fitt and illustrator, Kate Leiper, who were delighted to be on board. Both Matthew and Kate agreed to host virtual workshops with each school when we were ready!
In August, we ordered a set of books for each participating school. We included examples of picture books, stories in Scots and treasuries of Scottish folklore and fairy tales.
