Transition Tips for Parents

Transition recommendations from Primary School Cousnelling team

Go easy on yourself! Remember everyone is different and some young people take to secondary school quite quickly while others need a little more time to settle in. Either way, it is a natural part of this next step in your life.

Prepare the night before, set out your clothes and if you can, pack your schoolbag to reduce any morning stressors. Try to go easy on yourself and expect to forget an item, or to bring the right textbook or end up in the wrong class at some point during this time.

You will pick it up eventually and within a month or two, you will feel like you have always been at Secondary school.
