ASSIST –

East Ayrshire council are now able to provide Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) which is open to anyone free of charge. If you are interested please email healthandsafety@east-ayrshire.gov.uk for further information.

ASIST is a two day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid, which aims to enable participants to become more willing, ready and able to recognise signs and intervene effectively to help persons at risk of suicide.


The EAC HWB Team are offering a variety of mental health training along with e-learning opportunities.

EAST Team Professional Learning 

The EAST team have a range of online CLPL opportunities including nurture, attachment theory, Massage in Schools Programme (MISP), growth mindset, change and loss and resilience.


Childrens-Services-Learning-and-Development-Calendar

This includes training opportunities in therapeutic play, children living with adults with mental health problems and trauma informed practice.


Children and Young People’s Mental health and Wellbeing

The Mental Health Foundation ScotlandDigital Bricks Learning and Children’s Health Scotland have created a Professional Learning Resource for Scottish Government in Mental Health and Wellbeing. It has been designed for all staff working in schools across Scotland. It is open access and available to anyone who may find it of benefit.

The resource takes a whole school approach centred around prevention and early intervention to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for everyone in the school community. It aims to provide school staff with knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing in schools and a range of opportunities to learn about experiences and advice from practitioners and young people.

There are four main sections split into bitesize topics:


SAMH created ‘We all have mental health: an introduction for teachers’, to provide teachers with an introduction to mental health; equip them with the skills and knowledge to recognise and respond to a pupil who is experiencing a mental health problem; and lead a conversation about positive mental health.  Click here to register interest.



If you are interested in e-learning around suicide, the NHS offer a short course – Suicide Let’s Talk.  This will offer you a useful approach to talking about suicide and signposting people to professional help.


Place2Be are currently offering a free 5 week online course developed from their work in schools to enhance professionals’ understanding of children’s mental health and introduce approaches that foster positive wellbeing in schools and communities. Click here for more information.


Health and Wellbeing CLPL from Education Scotland

A range of CLPL opportunities for anyone working in education including supporting children and young people through grief and loss, finding ways to wellbeing through coaching and self empowerment and compassionate and connected classroom.



Place2think – free small group supervision for teaching staff  

Place2Think are small group supervision sessions for education professionals supporting positive mental health in school communities. Facilitated by Place2Be clinicians experienced in school and community settings.   These sessions are fully funded.

The Exchange Resource 

The Exchange offer a variety of CLPL based around the programmes used by their counsellors and practitioners in schools.  There are training courses available for primary and secondary schools as well as for staff wellbeing.

NEST stands for Neurodevelopmental Empowerment & Strategy Team. We are a small NHS Ayrshire & Arran team who are paid for by the three Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnerships.  Here you can find lots of information and training to help raise awareness about how to support numero-divergent people.
