Weekly Round-up

This week we had our last week of swimming and after our lesson we got to have a fun swim, where we got lots of floats and noodles to play with. We also went a walk down by the river and around the Barony Campus.

In literacy we were learning to write a summary for the chapters we read in Holes. In writing we wrote a non-chronological report based on an animal, and we have been continuing to work on our joins when doing our handwriting.

In numeracy we were learning to multiply by multiples of 10 and 100. We have also been practising our Number Talks.

We have been learning to take on the role of someone we aren’t in drama. We have to try and stay in character and answer questions based on what we think the people we are pretending to be would say.

We used the K’nex to build different vehicles or modes of transport, we had a helicopter, plane, bike, car, train and a glider. We worked hard in our groups, we had to have good communication, work well as a team to help each other, we had to problem solve when our ideas didn’t always work and we had to adapt and change our plans based on this.

We have been busy working on  our crafts and items to sell at the Christmas Fayre and we can’t wait for you to see them next week.

Weekly Round-up

It has been a super busy week in P6.

It was Big Talk presentation week and we have loved listening to everyone’s presentations, and it’s been brilliant getting to know a bit more about everyone in our class. We have also been working on giving feedback to each other using tickled pink and green for growth based on the assessment criteria.

We had Home Circles on Tuesday, followed by our trip to Cumnock for our 5th swimming lesson. We have also been busy working on our sewing skills and creating our crafts for the Christmas Fayre.

We loved having our friends and family visit for our literacy open morning on Thursday.

Following on from Scotland qualifying for The World Cup 2026, we got the opportunity to take on different roles in drama. Some people took on the role of the Scotland manager, whilst others took on the role of the journalists and players. We even set up our own “press table” and worked hard to remain in character throughout.

Weekly Round-up

We’ve had another busy week in P6. This week we have been practising the different races for the Sportshall Athletics. We have worked in teams to compete in different relay races too.

We have finished our 4th week of swimming lessons and it’s great to see the progress that everyone is making.

This week we continued to work on our report writing skills and used the information collected from our research to complete our first reports. We were learning about the importance of headings and sub-headings to organise our information.

We have been learning about different modes of transport and have been looking at how these have changed over the years. We went on a virtual tour of the Riverside Museum and learned all about the different modes of transport, from the Penny Farthing, to steam trains, trams and the first gliders ever to be built and remain in the air for almost a minute.

Weekly Round-up

This week has been another busy week in P6. We started off the week with a visit from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who were teaching us all about firework safety in the lead up to bonfire night. We also started preparation for Sportshall Athletics in PE.

On Tuesday we had our 3rd swimming lesson, and everyone is making great progress and trying very hard.

We had our first Discovery Den on Wednesday and what a range of experiences everyone had, from cooking, to arts and crafts, sports, music,  coding and more.

We were learning all about mime in drama and had great fun acting out different scenarios.

P6 Big Talk Homework

Title:  Me, Myself and I

Following a class discussion today, pupils have chosen to prepare and present a five minute talk all about themselves.

You should include as much detail as possible and can include a range of different subjects such as hobbies, family and pets, not forgetting any talents and personality traits you have that make you extra special.  You can chose whatever you would like to use to enhance your talk e.g. PowerPoint (saved on GLOW or pendrive), poster, photographs, bringing in items.

You should practise your talk at home in order to be able to fluently present it to the class, you might want to use notes on paper to help you remember your talk.

All talks will be assessed using the school’s Talking & Listening criteria, which is also available on Glow.

Talks should be ready to be presented on Monday 17th November.
