This week in P4

This week in Primary 4 we have been continuing to work on place value, rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and ‘Multiplication Masters’ in numeracy.

We have been revising the ‘oa’ sound in spelling and have been continuing to work on accurately punctuating sentences in our writing. We have been learning to use the reading strategy ‘visualisation’ and created a visualisation of Mr and Mrs Twit.

We have been skipping with Mrs Cook and learning to control a hockey stick and ball with Mrs McKenna in P.E.

We created some beautiful ‘I am . . .’ artwork which is on display in the corridor. We used watercolours to paint the background and then wrote positive adjectives to describe ourselves.

We have also been practising counting to 20 in French, have been creating digital collages in technologies and had our first Home Circles this week.

Leo was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Dalton to sit with him at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Leo!

Gracie was a finalist in the ‘Born For This’ dance championship at the weekend and brought her award into school to show the class. Congratulations Gracie!

Weekly Round-Up

It has been a busy first full week of learning in Primary 4!

This week we have been working hard on our ‘Multiplication Masters’ and  partitioning 2 and 3 digit numbers in numeracy.

We have been been writing about ourselves in literacy and have been focussing on punctuating sentences correctly.

We started our new book study ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl and have been working on the reading strategy ‘prior knowledge’. We have been talking about what we already know about the book before we start to read it.

We have been discussing our school value ‘Included’ and what being included means to us. We made a poster to go on display in the main corridor.

We have been practising counting to 10 in French and had fun playing ‘Lotto’.

We are learning about Planet Earth in Science this term and have been discussing what we already know about Planet Earth and what we want to find out.

We have lots of interesting questions that we want to know the answers to.

Welcome to P4

Welcome to the Primary 4 class blog for this session.

Primary 4 have had a great few days back at school and have settled in well to their new classroom and routines.

We have been working together to create our ‘Class Charter’ and decided on ‘The Simpsons’ as the theme for our charter this session.

Our PE days in P4 will be a Wednesday  and Friday.

Please make sure your child has indoor gym shoes and shorts/leggings (labelled) in order to take part in P.E.  These can be kept in school in a labelled bag. All jewellery (including earrings) must be removed before taking part in lessons.

Thanks for your support.
