This week in P4

Here’s a round up of this week in Primary 4.

The pupils voted to go for a walk to the monument this week.

We had a great morning visiting the Primary 7 ‘Revive and Thrive’ toy sale on Wednesday. We bought lots of lovely toys, games and books.

We had Discovery Den activities again this week and got to take part in lots of different activities including clay modelling, pancake making, mindfulness, fruit tasting, sports/games, music, STEM and quilling.

In literacy we have been learning to use interesting vocabulary in our writing. In numeracy we have been working on the links between times tables and tiling 2D shapes. We have also been finishing our crafts for the Christmas Fayre and finding out about St Andrew’s Day which is on Sunday.

Weekly Round-Up

It has been a very busy week in Primary 4!

A huge well done to our pupils for the hard work and effort they put into their class talks this week. You all did an amazing job and should be very proud of yourselves!

It was lovely to see so many families join us for our literacy open morning on Thursday. We enjoyed sharing our learning with you all.

We went for a lovely walk to the river this week. We found lots of interesting rocks and even saw a couple of herons.

We have been working hard in writing and numeracy and are ready to move on to new learning targets next week. In French we have been learning numbers to 100.

We have also been creating crafts to sell at the Christmas Fayre.

Homework Week 1

P4 Class Talk Homework Project

Title: Where I live

Pupils have been given a project to prepare and give a short talk about where they live. Some ideas they could include in their talk are: where they live, what kind of house or flat they live in, who they live with, what they like about where they live and what they would like to improve about their local area.

Pupils can decide how they would like to present their talk i.e. poster, PowerPoint presentation, photographs, bringing in items from home etc.

Children should practise their talk at home in order to be able to talk fluently to the class, they might want to use notes on paper to help them remember their talk.

Talks should be ready to be heard for Monday 17th November. Further details will be posted on the class blog as to which day pupils will be presenting their talk.

If you have any questions please email me at: laura.mckenna@eastayrshire.org.uk

I look forward to hearing your talks.

First Week of Term 2

Primary 4 have had a great first week of term and have been working so hard!

In numeracy we have been learning to add 3 digit numbers with carrying. We have also been learning to identify the faces, edges and vertices of 3D shapes. We have started to learn about conjunctions in literacy and have been using conjunctions to link sentences in our writing. We have also been learning about the Hindu festival Diwali and creating some lovely Autumn artwork.

Last Week of Term 1

It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of term 1 already!

This week we went for a lovely class walk to the monument, looking for signs of Autumn on the way. We spotted mushrooms, acorns and lots of different coloured leaves.

We have been learning to carry when adding in numeracy this week. We have been working so hard on using punctuation in our writing that we are ready to move on to a new learning target after the holidays. We have also been learning about the different states of water in Science.

We ended the week with a ‘free choice’ afternoon as a treat for working so hard this term.

Have a great October holiday!
