Literacy
This week P2 have been learning the ‘ow’ phoneme as in cow, owl and tower. They practised their spelling words with a partner using magnetic letters and boards.
Our Scottish poem this year is The Dinosaur by L.Giffiths. After reading the poem, P2 wrote a description of a dinosaur.
We have also been revising using ‘and’ to join sentences.

Numeracy
In Maths this term our focus will be multiplication and division. This week they have been practising recognising and making equal groups.
P2 have also been learning about shape. As our Scots poem is about a dinosaur, they used different shapes to create a picture of a dinosaur .

Learning Across the Curriculum
We have started reading Katie Morag and this will be used as a stimulus for our Scotland topic.
We also created some Saltires and thistles in art as they are symbols of Scotland.
Below is a copy of our Scots poem ‘The Dinosaur. A copy was sent home with each pupil but if you need another just let me know.
I’ve also included a link to a video that the pupils have been using in class to help them learn it (it says bairns instead of weans but the pupils know that they’ve to say weans).
