Homework for the week will be posted here.

Week beginning 13/6/22

We will no longer be issuing homework this year. Thank you for all of your support and hard work at home to help learn sounds, common words and number strategies. Sumdog and Education City are still available for you to use if you wish.

Week beginning 30/5/22

There will be no homework this week as it is a short week and pupils are participating in the Jubilee celebrations.

Week beginning 23/5/22

There is no formal homework this week as we consolidate our sounds. We will be continuing reading books in class.

🇬🇧Next week the children will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. As part of our celebration the class will take part In a crown parade.

I am looking for the children to create their very own bespoke crown at home. It can be as creative as you like! The only rule is that it must be wearable and have their name on the inside.

The crown should be brought to school by Monday 30th May.🇬🇧

Please do not worry as they will also get the chance to make one in class.

There will be no numeracy, sounds homework or reading this week as it is a 3 day week and we have our trip on Friday.

I have assigned Time and Subtraction games on Education City. – Log in details are inside your homework folder.

There will be no homework this week as we are back from the holidays and it is a consolidation week in class.

Literacy
Our phoneme this week is ng and consolidation of our common word walls.

Reading will be given out on Monday to be returned on Friday.

Week beginning 28.2.22

Literacy

This week we are moving onto our phonemes. Which is a sound that has 2 or more letters. We will only be learning 1 phoneme per week. Not 2 like we did with our single sounds.

This weeks phoneme is sh. Our common words are ‘she‘ ‘come‘ and ‘from‘ .
Reading will be given out on Monday to be returned on Friday.

Literacy
This week is consolidation week.

I have set a Numeracy task on Sumdog.

IDL
We are loving our Dinosaur topic and this week we will be looking at the Triassic period. I hope your dinosaur didn’t hatch out the egg!!! 🙂
Please if you have any kitchen roll tubes (Not toilet roll)  could you possibly bring them into school for an activity. 🙂

Learning Journals will be going live this week, I cant wait to know what you think!

Literacy
This weeks sounds are ‘qu’ and ‘x. Our common words are ‘are‘ ‘dad‘ and ‘not‘ .
Reading will be given out on Tuesday for this week.

Numeracy
I have set a Numeracy task on Sumdog.

IDL
Our new topic is dinosaurs. We will be making our very own dinosaur eggs. This is a very messy job so please could you provide an old shirt/top that can be kept in the class to be worn during this very messy time.

Week beginning 31.1.22

This weeks sounds are ‘y’ and ‘z. Our common words are ‘your‘ ‘by‘ and ‘only‘ .

Following on from consolidation week last week,  pupils will receive a letter with sounds they found difficult to recognise and write, They will also receive a word wall with the common words they found difficult to read.

Please when doing their homework throughout the week could you have a go at writing or reading these specific sounds and words. We will also be consolidating them in class.

Numeracy
Continue to complete numeracy games on Sumdog.

Week beginning 24.1.22

This week is consolidation week where we will be assessing pupils on their taught sounds and common words. There will be no sounds homework this week.

eading books will continue to be given out – please can you return any you may have at home.
A reading worksheet will be included in their homework folder this week.
Pupils can can try this reading game on top marks. You can choose which phase you do if you want challenged.

Week beginning 17.1.22

This weeks sounds are ‘j’ and ‘v’. Our common words are ‘have‘ ‘to‘ and ‘just‘ .

I am enjoying reading the Scottish wildlife fact files that are coming into class. Please if completing return by Friday 21st as we will be presenting them to the class on this day.

We are enjoying learning our poem ‘MINCE N TATTIES’ in class and I hope you are enjoying learning it at home. If you need another copy please just let me know.

Week beginning 10.1.22

This weeks sounds are ‘h‘ and ‘w’. Our common words are ‘his‘ ‘went‘ and ‘was‘ .

Please check your child’s bag for Topic work homework for the next two weeks. We are celebrating Scotland in the run up to Burns Night and will be learning about Scottish Wildlife through the book ‘Harris the Hero’.

Week beginning 29.11.21

This weeks sounds are ‘f’ and ‘o’. Our common words are ‘if’, ‘for’ and ‘on’.

Please can you ensure that reading books come back in on a Friday with pupils homework. Please can you return their blue folders and not just their red jotter to help keep the books in good condition.

We are continuing  addition in Numeracy  with Miss Flannagan and Information Handling with Ms Borland. We are learning our songs for the Christmas Carol Extravaganza.

We are writing our letters to Santa and going a walk to post them.

We might be getting a surprise from a little Elf on Wednesday.

Week beginning 22.11.21

This weeks sounds are ‘g’ and ‘l’. Our common words are ‘go’, ‘got’ and ‘get’.

We are continuing our understanding of addition in Numeracy and learning our songs for the Christmas Carol Extravaganza.

Ms Borland will be taking the class on a Monday as Miss Flannagan is out of class doing Principal Teacher duties. The pupils know Ms Borland as she teaches them on a Wednesday morning.  She is excited to get to work with them on a Monday also.

Week beginning 15.11.21

This week is consolidation week so there will not be any new sounds sent home for homework.

Reading homework will begin this week for some pupils. The books will be given out in a staggered order as we are sharing books with 3 primary 1 classes. Please do not be alarmed if your child does not have reading homework this week.

We are continuing with addition and 3D shapes in Numeracy and we are excited for Scottish book week and Children in Need on Friday.

This weeks sounds are ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘ck’. Our common words are ‘can’, ‘we’ and ‘into’.

We are continuing our understanding of addition in Numeracy and beginning our new topic of Materials.

Week beginning 01.11.21

This weeks sounds are ‘d‘ and ‘e‘. Our common words are ‘did‘, ‘as‘ and ‘he‘.

We are learning to blend words together and know lots of sounds to help us make words.

We are learning about addition and 3D shapes in Maths this week.

We are very excited as we are learning about Diwali the Hindu, Sikh and Jain religious celebration. We are finishing the week off with a Diwali celebration on Thursday with food, songs, stories and different Diwali traditions.

 

Week beginning 25.10.21

This weeks sounds are ‘r‘ and ‘m’. Our common words are ‘am’, ‘me‘ and ‘my’.
Thank you for all of your help with our first block of sounds. I really appreciate it.

We are learning about 3D shapes during Maths time this week.

This week we are learning about our last sense. The sense of taste. The children are excited to try different foods to try and identify the taste. I wonder if they will like the lemons! We will also be celebrating Halloween with a Halloween extravaganza day on Friday!

Week beginning 27.9.21

This weeks sounds are ‘s‘ and ‘i’. Our common words are ‘I’, ‘in‘ and ‘it‘.
Thank you for all of your help with week 1 sounds. I really appreciate it.
I will be giving pupils home there number 1-5 workbooks, within this booklet they have completed some of their pages in class and they are welcome to finish the others at home for further practise. Please keep this booklet at home.
This week we are learning about the Human body and where our body parts on our body.

 

Week beginning 21.9.21

The children will bring home a folder today, please read the letter which is on the inside of their little red jotter.
This weeks sounds are ‘a’ and ‘t’. Our common words are ‘a’, ‘at’ and ‘the’.

I have included a subitising game and flashcards with all the common words we will teach this year.

There is also a username and passwords for the Sumdog website to practise numeracy skills through games. There is a link for this in the useful links tab at the top of the main page. Please do not answer the diagnostic questions for your child as this sets the games at a level for them and changes as their ability progresses.

Homework will be given out on a Monday to be returned on a Friday. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
