World Book Day

We have had a great time celebrating World Book Day today. Thank you to everyone for putting in so much effort with all the wonderful costumes!

We showed off our costumes and discussed our characters in class this morning, then we showed them off in front of the whole school. We did a quiz in our School Houses and then shared our favourite books with reading buddies from Primary 5/6.

We have been looking at The Rainbow Fish in class over the last week. We wrote our own Rainbow Fish book and looked at the setting, characters and re-telling the story. We also made Rainbow name plates which the children brought home today. We ended the day with fruit and a story.

Sharing the Learning 26/2/26

Numeracy and Maths

We are learning about length. We are measuring with non-standard units e.g. how many cubes long is the table.

Can you complete some measuring challenges around the house?

What have we been up to?

Firstly a huge well done to all the pupils for a fantastic performance of Bonnie Wee Jeanie Macoll, along with an excellent recital of ‘Up in the morning early’ by Robert Burns. The children also enjoyed learning our new school song.

Back in class we’ve been hard at work learning the sound and formation for ‘f’. Meanwhile P2 pupils have been spelling words with ‘er’.

We’ve been using word cards and letter tiles to help read and write cvc words independently.

We also enjoy using the computers to reinforce our learning.

Numeracy

We are learning to identify odd and even numbers within 100.  Play a version of the game below. If you have a dice at home, roll it twice to create a 2 digit number. Talk about is it odd or even? What digit tells us, the units. Pupils could draw their own track and finish line.
