Homework for week beginning 18th May

This week, Primary 1s are learning <th>. Primary 2s are looking at /ai/ made by the grapheme <a>.

As always, please choose one or more activities from your activity sheet to practise your spelling words. We will be doing our spell check on Monday.

In Maths, Primary 1s are focussing on counting to 20 this week. Primary 2s are starting to learn the 2 times table!

You can go on Sumdog and practise your maths there or play one of the games below:

Primary 1: Okta’s Rescue (choose Level 3)

Primary 2: Hit the Button (Choose times tables to 20 and then ‘x2’)

We are also taking our clocks home with us. You could practise making times (P1 – o’clock and half past  / P2 – same as P1 and quarter past/quarter to).

Science Centre Trip

We had a brilliant time at the Science Centre today.

We left school first thing this morning.

We spent time exploring all the different experiments when we arrived. The whole class enjoyed the Science play area but we also looked around the other activities.

Then we had our lunch which was a highlight for many of us!

In the afternoon we visited the planetarium and learned all about the stars and some of our planets. It was amazing to travel to Venus, Saturn and Pluto!

Homework for week of 11/5/26

Pupils will have received their new word lists in their word list jotters. Our spell check from last week is also stuck into these jotters.

Primary 1s are focussing on /ch/ this week, while P2s are looking at the magic e with the letter a (/a_e/).

As always, please highlight the sound or use diacritical marking (click here for a short video explaining this concept) to help with reading and spelling. Then choose one or more activities from your list to practise your words.

In maths, Primary 1s have started looking at numbers to 20. We are focussing on number formation and counting this week. Please complete the worksheet in your homework folders and return it on Monday. Use a pencil and a paperclip to spin and practise saying the number.

Here is a YouTube short to explain how the spinner works in case your child doesn’t remember: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-1vKdFAOryQ

Primary 2s have started looking at the concept of multiplication. We are practising repeated addition this week. Play the game with a partner and practise identifying repeated addition in arrays.

Class Update Week of 4/5/26

This has been a very short week for us in class but we were still very busy!

On Tuesday, we enjoyed having our PE lesson outside together with the P3/4 class. We practised our batting and aiming skills, worked in a team and improved our balance and movements.

Even though we didn’t get any homework this week, we still worked hard on our spelling and maths. We started looking at numbers to 20 in P1 and multiplication in P2. We are also still practising telling the time and did time activities on Friday.

We also got the chance to play in our play area every day (as usual). We are developing social skills, as well as creativity, communication and problem solving skills when we play with others.

Class Update Week beginning 27th April

This week we have continued to look at our book The Snail and the Whale. We also practised our spelling with different activities. In Maths, we practised telling the time.

In Art, we made beautiful sunflowers using drawing and colouring techniques. We then used tissue paper to add texture to the sunflowers.

We enjoyed practising different Badminton games.

We also had lots of play opportunities inside and outside.

We ended the week with a special story time with our P6/7 buddies who had written a book for us. We got to take the books home with us, too!
