This week we have been learning the ‘sh’ sound. We wrote and read ‘sh’ words, wrote sentences, hushed babies, played with sharks, made shape pictures and built shops.
In maths we have started learning about money. We have focused this week on recognising coins to £2 and ordering them. We played lots of fun games.
We have started investigating our senses. We talked about the different parts of the eye and made a big eye for our wall. We then labelled it. We also played listening games and had to think about different noises we can hear.
We also walked to the river this week. What a beautiful day!
Pancake Day
On Tuesday we celebrated Pancake Day. We had to carefully read the recipe and measure and weigh the ingredients. We then had to spread our pancakes after they were cooked. But our favourite part was definitely tasting them!!
World Book Day
We also celebrated World Book Day on Thursday. We had a wonderful day sharing and reading our favourite books. The buddies came to our class in the morning and we took part in a Story Book Quiz. They then helped us read our stories and played some book related games with us.
We have also been busy this week learning about Doubles and trying to commit them to memory.
We have also started dictation, listening to sentences and writing them on a whiteboard. We tried to remember capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
Miller also brought in some shark’s teeth to let us investigate. We loved looking at them! Thank you Miller!
As part of our World Book Day tomorrow, Thursday 6th March, we would love the children to bring in their favourite book from home. They will then get an opportunity to talk about their books with their friends.

Thanks again for your support!

We had great fun today making pancakes! I’ll be posting photos on our weekly round up on Friday but some of the children were asking for the recipe for home, so thought I’d share my granny’s recipe! The milk is roughly 150ml.
Happy flipping!!

This week our Numeracy Homework is focusing on Addition. Please complete and hand in by Friday 7th March.
Thanks again for your continued support!
It was SO lovely to be back this week and see everyone. I missed all those wee smiley faces!
We have been busy this week learning the ‘qu’ sound. We drew queens, built duck ponds, created castles for queens, played cards and timed how quickly we could make the alphabet. We also used our letters to build CVC words.
In Numeracy, we have been consolidating our learning of addition, subtraction and missing number calculations…
We drew some beautiful daffodils to add to our display of spring flowers.
We spotted some snowdrops and daffodils on our walk this week but we also ended up VERY wet!!
This week we have been learning the ‘j’ and ‘v’ sound. We have been making jelly and jam sandwiches, creating jellyfish, building jungles, painting volcanoes, role-playing vets and designing vans.
We have also been exploring our favourite tool to use when subtracting. Can you spot the tools we have used?
This week was the end of our Scotland topic. The children have worked so hard to make ‘My World’.
This week we have been learning the ‘h’ and ‘w’ sound. We had formed our letters correctly, made hand hedgehogs, built homes and played hopscotch. We also built wooden worlds, drew webs, washed wild animals and explored the world.
We also investigated more tools to help us subtract. This week we used Rekenreks and Numicon.
We have been exploring different mindfulness techniques. This week we tried the Body Scanner and Bubble Bounce. I’ve attached a link below if you’d like to try them at home.

This week we have been learning ‘u’. We played with underwater creatures, drew unhappy faces, designed umbrellas, built creations we could go under and practiced writing our sounds.
We have also been continuing to learn about subtraction. This week we used Number lines to help us.
We have been continuing to learn about Scotland and this week we used an Atlas to investigate the world. We drew our own maps of the world too.
We have been having a discussion about our feelings this week and have started our Emotions Check In.

Everyone worked so hard to learn their poem to perform to the class! It was SO difficult to choose who was going through to perform to the judges. We could have chosen them all! Well done everyone!
