Tuesday – Elliott, Mirryn, Riia and Coila

Wednesday – Jessica, Fifer and Charlie

Thursday – Allie, Lyanna and Brie

Friday – Ethan, Rosa and Lucia

We can’t wait to hear about all their favourite animals!

Wk ending 2nd May

This week we have been learning the ‘wh’ sound.  We have been learning how to form it correctly in our writing, building things with wheels and drawing animals with whiskers.

In numeracy, we finished our money topic and began learning about fractions.  This week we started investigating equal sharing.  We have also been revisiting our numbers before and after and our formation.

We have taken the opportunity to enjoy the lovely weather by playing outside.  We have been climbing, jumping, swinging and playing football.

The next class visit from the ECC was also this week.  We had great fun showing them how we play in Primary 1.

We have also had lots of fun hula hooping in class this week.  Jessica spent a lot of time practising and was very proud when she managed to keep it up! Well done!

Literacy Homework Wk1

Literacy Homework (Week 1 of 4)

Big Talk Homework

Twice a year, the children take part in our whole school ‘Big Talk Homework Challenge’.  This is where your child gets the opportunity to prepare and present a talk to the class.  The topic will change depending on the focus for that term.  This term the class has chosen to talk about ‘My Favourite Animal’ to link in with our  Living Things topic. At home, your child should prepare and practise their talk.

Some ideas to include in their talk might be:

  • Facts about their favourite animal eg. Where it lives, what it eats, is it a mammal.
  • Why it is their favourite animal
  • A picture/drawing of their favourite animal

The talk should be ready to be presented the week bg Monday 12th  May. More details will be given shortly (please check Blog) about which day that week your child will be giving their talk.

We look forward to hearing about their animal!

Wk ending 25th April

What a busy first week back we have had.  In literacy, we have been learning the ‘ng’ sound.  We drew pictures showing ‘I am strong’, we played ‘ng’ games on the chromebooks, we built strong army bases and strong body suits, we did our ironing and hung clothes on hangers.

This week in maths, we have been learning how to calculate change.  We played a good game on the Chromebooks called Pay For It.  I have attached the link below if you would like to play it at home.

We also had our first class visit from the ECC children. We all had great fun playing together.

We played at the cage outside the games hall this week.  It was great fun.

Wk ending 28th March

This week we have been learning the ‘ch’ digraph. We have been building, reading and writing ‘ch’ words, creating spring chicks, chopping playdough chocolates,  building churches and making trains go ‘chop choo’.

We have also been making totals using money this week.

We had great fun investigating our senses with a fruit tasting session. And then we voted on our favourite and I was very surprised that lemon won. I loved seeing all the sour faces!

Miller also brought in his rugby medal to show the class. We were very proud of your achievement Miller. Well done!

Wk ending 21st March

This week we have been learning the ‘th’ digraph.  We practised how to write it neatly, made Thank You cards, painted thick and thin lines, wrote ‘th’ on teeth and used a toothbrush to clean it and built puppet theatres to perform  puppet shows.

In numeracy, we have continued learning about money.  We have been investigating the value of the coins and have started exploring making amounts.

We were so proud of Jessica and Charlie this week as they represented our class when presenting during the Power Down Assembly.  Well done!

In science, we continued learning about Our Senses.  We discussed Taste this week and made a giant tongue for our wall.  We talked all about different tastes and are very excited for our fruit taste test next week.

And we also had a fantastic afternoon at the ECC for our Teddy Bears Picnic.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Just to remind everyone to please bring a teddy tomorrow (Tuesday 18th March) We are planning on visiting the ECC to take part in a Teddy Bears Picnic as part of the transition events. Thanks!
