Wk ending 28th March

It was SO lovely to be back this week and see everyone.  I missed all those wee smiley faces!

We have been busy this week learning the ‘qu’ sound.  We drew queens, built duck ponds, created castles for queens, played cards and timed how quickly we could make the alphabet.  We also used our letters to build CVC words.

In Numeracy, we have been consolidating our learning of addition, subtraction and missing number calculations…

We drew some beautiful daffodils to add to our display of spring flowers.

We spotted some snowdrops and daffodils on our walk this week but we also ended up VERY wet!!

Week ending 21/02/25

Primary 1 have been working hard for Mrs Stewart this week.

We have been learning all about the seasons and have been outside building nests, just like the birds in spring, and followed  an Art Hub tutorial on YouTube to draw autumn hedgehogs.

Our sounds this week were x and z and we have been working on putting our letter sounds, as well as the names, in alphabetical order.

We have had a lovely week with Mrs Stewart and are looking forward to having Mrs Ferguson back next week.

Week ending 14/02/25

It’s been a short week but we have still managed to pack lots in!

Our sound this week was ‘y’  and we built a yacht, designed yoghurt pots and practised our common words on yellow post it notes.

In maths we were introduced to the analogue clock and found it very funny that it has two ‘hands’.  We made our own clocks and have taken these home.  You could use these to practise making o’clock times at home as we will be learning this in class over the next few weeks.  Also, have a look out at home, or when you are out and about, for all the places that we can see the time displayed.

We are coming to the end of our hockey block in PE and this week we used all the skills we have learned to play mini hockey games.  Look at how happy we were when we scored a goal!

Wk ending 7th Feb

This week we have been learning the ‘j’ and ‘v’ sound.  We have been making jelly and jam sandwiches, creating jellyfish, building jungles, painting volcanoes, role-playing vets and designing vans.

We have also been exploring our favourite tool to use when subtracting.  Can you spot the tools we have used?

This week was the end of our Scotland topic.  The children have worked so hard to make ‘My World’.

Friday 31st January

We have been learning to order days of the week and months of the year. This is something you could practise at home.

We also visited the school library this week. We hope you enjoy reading the books at home. Please return books next Friday.
