Mental Wellbeing

 

The content in this session looks at how parents can support not only their own mental wellbeing but also their child’s . It is not designed to look at specific mental health conditions.

If you have good mental wellbeing, you can:

  • make the most of your potential
  • cope with life
  • play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends.

Mental wellbeing is important at all times of our lives. We thrive in situations where we feel safe, secure and respected. Family and friends have a strong influence on mental wellbeing and shape the habits and behaviours which can last a lifetime.

We ca help each other with our mental Wellbeing by taking time to talk – and listen – to each other. The best way to approach this is with a casual conversation – ask the person how they are feeling and letting them say what they want to say will help. Showing them warmth, telling them to keeping active and learning, encouraging  them to socialise and explore the outdoors is also important.
