British Deaf Association ( BDA)

Transition support provided by Mitchell Graham, Transition Support Officer, BDA

“DRP (Deaf Roots and Pride) can offer the following kind of support for post-school transition for Deaf young people:

The main thing would be personalised transition support through Zoom or similar (if they’re over 18, ok for 1-2-1 support as no need for child protection measures)

DRP information videos

Teacher training e.g. with a third party organisation

Parent training as above

Ask young people to join DRP’s Youth Advisory Group – opportunity to influence our events, meet peers, make own videos to be used to support others etc. (did you see the videos on Facebook by Ross and Erin?)

Signpost to Scottish Transition Forum (they have a lot of good advice on their website).”
