The Easter holidays are fast approaching so we thought it might be a good idea to suggest some fun activities for the children to do to keep them busy. We are going to post the activities on our “Just For Fun” section. Please remember that these activities are purely optional so have a browse and choose your favourites!

Good morning
It’s the start of week 2 and the sun is still shining which is enough to make us all smile. It will also give you an excuse to do some outdoor learning and play instead of being stuck inside – unless you are still in isolation.
We had a little idea this morning, that perhaps as a writing task this week you could write a “Thank You” card or letter to the NHS staff for keeping us all well and trying to beat this virus. They are working so hard and we know some of you have parents who are doing their bit, so your card could be for them.
Post your cards online so we can see them when you finish them. What you write is up to you, just be creative – and enjoy.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Please remember to take your time to set up your home school. There is no rush to do everything and it is more important for your mental health to be as stress free as possible during this crisis. Stressed adults cannot teach stressed children so it is vital that you ease yourself in to your home school situation. We do not want you to feel bombarded so please select what you feel you can to do. Every family set up will be different so please don’t compare your child or family to another, what works for them may not work for you. We genuinely don’t want to give anyone extra stress! We will be continuing to upload ideas and activities so take your pick!

Good morning Primary 3
We have been setting up some extra activities for you and some parents have requested Sumdog accounts, so we have set you all up with an account. This is an online maths program that will provide you with questions that are at your level.
You will first be asked to complete a variety of questions – some may be too difficult for you but put in an answer, as it will allow the software to establish where you need to start learning. Once you’ve finished this initial set of questions it will set your level.
We will also add some challenges for you and games – some with time limits – to keep some focus on areas we have been learning about, so look out for these too.
You will find your login details under each of your class lists and everyone’s password is set at primary3.
Any questions – just ask. Give it a try and have some fun!

To make the P3 site more user friendly we have decided to create extra tabs at the top of our main page. You will also see that we have tabs for different curricular areas. If you look at numeracy you will notice we have one for early level numeracy and one for first level numeracy, this is to differentiate work for pupils. If the first level numeracy becomes too difficult for your child at any stage over the following weeks you can dip in to the early level tab and please try not to worry too much as children all learn at different rates. If your child does not complete everything please do not worry either. You probably will already know which level your child works on but if you need clarification please do not hesitate to email us. Details of levels can also be found on the report cards.
We understand how overwhelming this all is for the parents / carers who are trying to work from home themselves and keep the kids busy in a productive way . We don’t want to swamp you with too much to take in so will continue to build up the information in as gently a way as we can think of.

The majority of children will be working on ‘tch’ but ‘ph’ is always a tricky sound and can be completed as revision if you wish.

Good Morning,
Today we would like to ease you as gently as possible in to the digital learning at home so it does not become too overwhelming for the children or adults working at home. We would suggest that to start off you practice logging on and off Bug Club and have the child have a wee look through one or two books. There is no need to complete activity bugs today, we will explain how they work soon but feel today should be a gentle transition for everyone. The children can also revisit books they have completed in the past by accessing the library section of Bug Club. If you have forgotten how to log on please check our previous post by scrolling down this page.
We will also add a familiar style “homework marker” to the page today. This set up will be familiar to you and gives spelling words for the week.
