Roald Dahl Day

We are going to celebrate “Roald Dahl” day on Wednesday 13 September. The teachers will prepare some activities for class and we thought it would be fun, for those who want to, to mark the day by also doing one of the following:

  • dress up as a character from a Roald Dahl novel
  • wear something yellow (his favourite colour!)
  • wear some of your clothing backwards (seeing as Roald Dahl liked funny backwards words!)

There is NO need to buy anything new, this is just a little bit of fun to mark the author’s birthday.

NHS Update

Currently, parts of the UK and Europe are seeing an increase in the number of people getting measles. In response to this, Public Health Scotland (PHS) has prepared the attached letter to be distributed to parents and carers of P1 and S1 pupils. This raises awareness of the importance of the MMR vaccine in protecting against measles and provides information on what parents/carers can do to make sure their child is up-to-date with vaccinations. This letter is also available in Arabic, Mandarin, Punjabi, Polish, Ukrainian and Urdu (see QR code on letter directing to translated versions). Please see attached PDF.

Welcome Back

Welcome to session 2023/24 at Ochiltree Primary School. We look forward to seeing all the children on Monday. We have been busy planning some of the exciting events for the coming session. Look out for updates in the calendar section of this APP.

Children should bring their P.E. kit with them so they can change in school. No jewellery should be worn for P.E. P.E. will be notified next Tuesday. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled.

Children may bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day. Please note that snacks containing nuts or coconut are not permitted in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.

If your child requires any medication, please bring it into school on Monday and complete an administration form for session 2023/24. Please note that medication should be in it’s prescription box.

Keep an eye on the weather, which can change from day to day. Children should have sun screen, a hat, sun glasses and a warm waterproof jacket to cover most eventualities!

P5/6/7 Leadership in P.E.

Children from P5/6/7 were recently showing their leadership skills by planning and carrying out different sporting activities such as football skills, parachute, dodgeball, jumping, tennis and hockey.  We had a competition to see who were the most supportive and engaging instructors as voted for by the 2 classes.  Our winners were Hannah and Libby who did an excellent job leading a high jump station.  Well done to all instructors who volunteered!
