Due to the poor weather forecast for next week, it has been decided that Sports Day will now take place on Monday 20th June. The schedule will remain the same.
If the weather is not good on Monday 20th June, then sports day will be held inside with the children only. No spectators will be allowed.
Unfortunately due to heavy rain being forecast for tomorrow morning and throughout the day, sports day is cancelled. This will now be re-scheduled for next Wednesday 15th June. We hope for dry weather next week.
Free bus travel is available to all pupils aged 5 and over from 31 January 2022 and can be accessed via the National Entitlement Card. We have been working with Customer Services as parents have a choice of applying for a new card via the school system or they can go directly to https://getyournec.scot/nec/. If they go through the NEC website, parents will require to validate both their identity and that of their child.
The other option is for them to apply for a National Entitlement Card / Kidz Kard via the school. This option assumes that both the parent’s and child’s identity has been validated and simplifies the process the parents. Please go to: NEC Application Form 1 for pupils aged 5 to 10 years old NEC Application Form 2 for pupils aged 11 to 15 years old
Please submit any applications before 15th June to ensure your child receives their free bus travel card before the end of term.
The children have been issued with their school photographs from Tempest today. Orders should be placed on line by 15th June to ensure that they will be back at the school for orders to be issued before the end of term.
Please note that postage will be charged on orders placed after 15th June and these will be sent to your home address.
It is with the greatest of sadness that we write to inform you of the death of our much loved previous janitor and friend, Mr John Faddes.
John was a unique character, kind, caring and always full of fun. He was wonderful with the children and well known for his practical jokes and his infectious laugh.
John was an ardent football fan and delighted in wins for the school team as well as his beloved Talbot.
He was also a keen supporter of the school’s Eco work and donated a cup to recognise this work in the school.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with his wife and family.
We are looking forward to the Sports Day on 8th June ( weather permitting). After a lovely few days, the weather forecast for Wednesday is not so good.
Should it rain on Tuesday night or on Wednesday morning the grass may be too wet to hold the event and it will be carried over to the 15th June. Please look out for an update on Wednesday morning by 9.30 a.m. on the app.
The children will also be doing a selection of novelty races and we would be grateful if the following pupils could bring the items into school in a clearly labelled bag if possible.
P5 –hat, gloves and a scarf
P6 – pyjamas
If your child does not have these items please do not worry – they will still be able to take part in the events.
Parents wishing to spectate should line up at the front gate of the school no earlier than 10 minutes before the event starts. Please see the previous message on the app for times.
The next Parent Council meeting will be held online on Wednesday 8th June at 7pm. If you would like to join the Parent Council and attend the meeting please email the secretary by Tuesday 7th June at ochiltreeparentcouncil20@gmail.com so the meeting link and agenda etc can be sent out on time.
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Smith for bringing along the vintage fire engine and some exhibits from the museum in Cumnock. The children were delighted to actually get on board the fire engine with the siren blaring!
We are planning to visit the museum next session. We have heard it is fantastic.
Thank you for coming along this morning and sharing our Jubilee Celebration with us. It was wonderful to be back together again and it even stayed dry. We will post the video and photographs on the school blog next week.
The raffle raised the fantastic sum of £342. This money will be used to offset the cost of the Jubilee water bottles.
It’s FREE entry on the day and all children’s activities are free of charge!!!
There will be face painting, climbing tower, bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, outdoor games & more.
The Hub Cafe will be open throughout, serving food & drink. A great opportunity to catch up with friends & family. It’s Jubilee weekend, so come along and join the fun.
𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: the car park will be closed on this day. Alternative parking will be available at the Church & School.
Children should be accompanied by an adult and consent forms will need to be completed by a parent/carer for some activities.
