As we get back into the new term we want to encourage pupils and parents to make use of the online reading scheme. This decodable scheme gives pupils practise reading themselves using the sounds and phonemes they already have, this might be at an easier level than the teaching phonemes and the texts utilised in class. Please find support in accessing below:
Please can we suggest that parents try using chrome browser as this seems to work best for rocket phonics . If there continues to be technical issues please feel free to drop in with your device and we will try and support.

Reading our eBooks on mobile devices requires some adjustments depending on what browser is being used.
We always advise using Chrome as the main browser to access and read resources without any issues. If there are any parents/children who are using iPads and their main browser is Safari, they must ensure that the mobile site version is enabled. For all Samsung device users – we advise downloading Chrome and use it as their main browsers, as Boost Learning is not compatible with Samsung internet browser.
If you have any further issues accessing the eBooks, please contact the school.
Our amazing School sponsored walk raised money for our school fund. This is money raised and utilized by the school to support the wider curriculum and resources needed in addition to our core budget from the local authority.
The parent council, along with their consultative role, raise funds for the school that are given to support specific projects and requests. The parent council have gifted monies to the school for chrome books, digital access and most recently donated £300 to reduce the cost of the pantomime.
Both these funds, in their differing ways, allow us to continue improvement for our young people and offer access to a wider range of experiences. Both the school and the parent council thank you all for your generosity in supporting either fund .
**Please note that the Lunch time STEM Club will take place on a Thursday from 12.45 p.m. – 1.15 p.m. and not on a Tuesday as per letter dated 24.10.2025. This may now conflict with your child’s permission to attend Church Lunches. However the school would like to confirm that the STEM Club was organised before the Church provided dates for their lunches. Please accept our apologies for any confusion caused.
Please note that this is a CLASS ACTIVITY ONLY and not open to parents/carers to join their child(ren). However, if you have younger children at home who wish to participate, please click on the link below.
FAO: P7 Parents/Carers attending The Robert Burns Academy Home Economics Taster Event – 22nd October 2025.
Many thanks for signing up to attend the Home Economics Taster Event in school tomorrow. If you are travelling by car, parking is strictly in the car park at Ayr Road, where you will then walk across the bridge to enter the school via Main Reception. We kindly ask that you do not try to gain access to park at the front of the school or in the staff car park as this will not be permitted. There will be staff and pupils stationed at Reception to direct you to the department.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow and hope you all enjoy the event!
The whole school will be visiting the Galleon in Kilmarnock on Wednesday 17th December to see the 10.00 a.m. performance of “Sleeping Beauty”. Due to the continued support of Ochiltree Parent Council, who is subsidising the cost of the buses, the amount per child to pay is £14.00. Payment can be made through ParentPay and should be paid by Friday 12 December.
The school would like to thank the Parent Council for their continued support.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the school this morning and helped us raise funds for MacMillan. The school raised £336.99!! We took our collection and added it to Ochiltree Community Hub’s collection – now totalling £1336.99 raised for MacMillan.
This is a fantastic amount raised by everyone working together.
