We all enjoyed celebrating World Book Day 2023 together in the assembly hall! We dressed up and found a cosy spot to share some of our favourite stories all together with different classes. Lots of fun had by all!
We have been learning lots about time connectives over the last few weeks to help us with our instruction writing. We have played fun games in class, used them in our writing and finally made our own board games to help us practise time connectives at home. Before we take our games home though, we thought we would practise playing them with P5/6. We all had great fun hearing some of the amazing sentences using time connectives that we came up with!
This week we celebrated Book Week Scotland in Primary 2/3. We all brought in our favourite books and talked about them in front of the class. It was so interesting to learn all about our favourite books and everyone did a fantastic job!
In our literacy lessons we found out all about fiction and non-fiction books and did a non-fiction book hunt. We also created a big reading display for our new comfy reading corner. One of our favourite activities was Drop everything and Read and we had a great treat when P6/7 pupils read to us and P1/2 in the hall.
We finished off the week with some great Pudsey activities on Friday.
We have had great fun this week doing our maths, literacy and art activities with a Halloween twist. We loved decorating our classroom with scary witches, Frankenstein monsters and mosaic pumpkins. The classroom is looking great! Friday was our favourite day when we had a fun filled morning with different fun Halloween activities. Then we made our Halloween pumpkin treats and finished off the day with a great party. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes!
Primary 2/3 has had lots of fun on Friday celebrating Roald Dahl Day. Many of us came in fabulous costumes, we continued reading our class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and created our own phenomenal chocolate bar wrappers. What a fun day!
We have also been working hard on our maths and spelling skills. Have a look at some of the activities we have been doing:
And here are some things that were created during our activity time:
We have been learning all about alphabetical order in our literacy lessons. We love doing activities to learn and practise our new skills. Our grammar activities include a letter hunt, a dictionary search, putting animals into alphabetical order, sorting letters and playing a capital and lower case matching pairs game.
Primary 2/3 have been busy learning all about place value in maths. One of our favourite activities is a number hunt which we often do in our gym hall. We have to find all the number cards and identify the number that is covered up by the animal. This is such a fun way to learn new skills!
