Pupils had a busy week celebrating Book Week Scotland and Children in Need, as well as learning about antibullying week and taking part in STEM activities with MaidSafe.
Pupils enjoyed a variety of reading challenges and enjoyed ‘Dropping Everything And Reading’ when the bell rang twice.

Pupils and staff enjoyed a great morning down at the hub for the panto production of ‘Snow White’ by M & M productions.
Thank you to Ochiltree Hub for hosting and to the Parent Council for providing the children with ice cream and Mrs Charles for organising our yummy treat.

Pupils enjoyed Halloween celebrations on Friday afternoon. We had a whole school parade, followed by parties in the hall and a variety of games back in classrooms. The children all looked fantastic and went to a lot of effort to celebrate. Check out some pictures on the SWAY below.

Another busy week in Primary 4.
We had a fantastic trip out to the Kelpies on Thursday, and would like to thank our drivers Bobby & Davie.
Today we took part in some fabulous royal celebrations ahead of the King’s Coronation this weekend. We hope you like our crowns that we’ve created.
We look forward to seeing parents and carers at our open afternoon next Friday between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

We have had such a busy couple of weeks since our return for Term 4! We have been making artwork and decorations for the upcoming Coronation celebrations and are looking forward to ‘Kings and Queens day’ this Friday.
We have been out and about in the community which has been great. You may have seen us out on the big litter pick or down at the cattle show. This week we are so excited to be going all the way to the Kelpies in Falkirk!

This term we have enjoyed Rugby sessions with Cumnock Rugby club. We have also had lots of fun learning about the myths and legends from Scotland, we even created our own mythical creature and wrote our own super stories about them. We are enjoying having music sessions with Mrs Hill on a Friday morning and these will continue next term.
Today we voted on our new topic which is going to be the Romans! We took part in an Easter Egg hunt with a maths twist! We had to answer the questions before we could crack the code!
Well done to all of Primary 4 for working so hard this term, we hope all parents and carers were pleased after parents night 🙂

Pupils have been throughly enjoying their new topic. We have learned all about Nessie, the Kelpies and enjoyed the story of ‘The Wee Bannock”.
We are debating wether or not Nessie is real, what do you think?
We have been very lucky to have “Harris’s Mum” come in and show us how to make 3D models of the Kelpies using a really cool substance called Polymorph.
Harris and Flynn made a battle of the Bannocks at the creative area, and you can also see Eilidh working hard researching facts about our mythical creatures.

We have been enjoying gymnastics in P.E, so far we have been working on our rolls and jumps. We can’t wait to get all the equipment out!
We have been learning about the Loch Ness Monster as part of our new topic. Do you think she is real? We can’t decide! We created these pictures of “Lady McNessie”, inspired by Scottish artist Steven Brown.

Mrs Bell and I, would like to thank all of Primary 4 and their parents & carers for our generous Christmas gifts. We hope everyone had a lovely break.
The children have been hard at work this week and have settled back into routines (there may have been some tired faces come Friday!).
Our Scots poem is “A Dug, A Dug” by Bill Keys and pupils have taken these home today to start learning.

Thursday 8th December
Primary 4 took the opportunity to teach Primary 1/2 all about James and the Giant Peach. They chose their favourite activities from their recent topic, and in groups, delivered these as ‘mini lessons’ for the younger pupils.
We learned how to mix the perfect peach colour, create a rainbow, demonstrate how rain is made and took part in the ‘Stop that peach!’ challenge.

This week in Primary 4 we have been busy learning how to grow a rainbow during our STEM session linked to our class novel. We have also been learning about the Haka and have used some of the movements to create our own routines. Of course, we have managed to squeeze in plenty of literacy and numeracy whilst rehearsing for the nativity too! To see more click on the link below 🙂

Primary 1/2 and Primary 2/3 have been working hard on their version of the Nativity. Children who were in school today have been given a copy of the DVD to take home; those absent can collect their copy when schools return in January.
