Staffing Update

Mrs Meek, P4/5 Class Teacher (Wed, Thurs, Fri) is currently absent. The P4/5 class will be taught by Ms A Smith on Wednesday 24th April and 1st – 3rd May.  Ms C Smith will teach the class on 25th and 26th April. Mrs Bell will continue to teach on a Monday and Tuesday and will liaise with the teachers to ensure a smooth transition takes place and the children’s learning journey continues as expected.

I have received notification from the authority that both Mrs Gregor and myself will continue in our current roles of Acting Depute and Acting Head Teacher until the end of this session.

I hope that this information is helpful.

London Update

The children had a great time yesterday at Lego Discovery Centre and arrived safely at their hotel. After an early bed everyone had a very quiet night. They have all had a delicious breakfast this morning and are looking forward to today’s activities.

Due to technical difficulties with the app, a message was posted last night on the school blog. Please check the school blog as well as the app for further updates and photographs.

Parent Council Fundraising

The Parent Council will be having a stall at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 2nd December in the Church Hall.

We are looking for some donations so we can run a Chocolate Tombola along with some other fun activities.  If you can able to donate anything could you please hand it into the school before Friday 24th November.

We hope to see you all there to support the Parent Council and some local businesses.

Reminder – Pantomime 02/11/23 – Ochiltree Hub

If you have not already done so, can you please complete the online payment on Parentpay for the Pantomime by Thursday of this week (26th Oct).

If you are unable to make payment by this date but wish your child to attend the Pantomime, please contact the school to discuss payment options.

Please note that the school is subsidising the Pantomime by £2 per child.

If you do not wish your child to attend the school’s Pantomime, please let us know so that we can then offer your child’s place to the wider community so that the school can meet the cost of the Pantomime.

Please note that education provision will be made for those children not attending the Pantomime.

Thank you.

Pupils from P4-7 who wish to attend should hand in written permission from a parent/carer.

Pupils from P1-3 who wish to attend should be collected by an adult. Written permission with details of the adult who will collect them should be sent into the school beforehand. Please collect and return your child via the main entrance.

School staff are not responsible for your child whilst attending church lunches.

World Mental Health Day

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day. You may have seen the Get Britain Talking adverts on television.  The children will be learning more about the importance of good mental health and sharing their worries at Assembly on Wednesday.

As part of  their homework this week, we would like to encourage  your child to draw a picture and talk about it with you.  All your child will need is a piece of paper, a pencil and some time with you. The document is a guide but if you would like a printed copy, please contact the school by Wednesday.

Your child can decide whether or not they wish to bring this homework back into school by Friday 13th October. If you would like to discuss anything about this homework further, please contact Mrs Lockie at the school.

East Ayrshire Cross Country Event

Congratulations to all those who took part in this morning’s Cross Country Competition in Kilmarnock.

Everyone ran extremely well and should be proud of their achievement. Special Congratulations go to Libby Brown who placed 2nd overall in the P7 girls competition and to Jess Brown who narrowly missed out on 3rd place.

Thanks also to all those who provided transport to and from the event.

P1/2 Story Telling Session

Some of our P1/2 Parents, Carers and Grandparents came in to read to the P1/2’s. The children thoroughly enjoyed their stories and liked hearing the stories being read to them by other adults.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to make the afternoon such a success. The children are looking forward to the next story telling session.
