School trip tomorrow

Hi,

We are all very excited for our school trip tomorrow to Dean Castle Country Park!

Please remember to wear school uniform and weather appropriate clothes. Lots of children took home their puddle-suits and wellies for the occasion!

Any snacks/drinks/lunch should be brought in a disposable plastic bag. Any lunches ordered through the school app will be handed to learners in class in the morning. Ideally, learners should bring drinks in a disposable bottle or carton. School bags will be left in school. Feel free to put a change of clothes in learners bag for when they return to school, but please note (unless you ask the teacher otherwise), this change of clothes will not come on the trip with us.

We will be leaving at 9am sharp, so please make sure everyone arrives on time! Look forward to seeing you all then!

Thanks, Miss Ronald and Miss Barrett

School Trip

Hi all,

Next week, P1R and P1B will be visiting Dean Park in Kilmarnock for our school trip, linking in with our current STEM topic on Plant Growth and Plant Care.

Please note the new date of our school trip is Tuesday 17th March: this is different to the original date of Wednesday 18th March. P1 will be away for the school day and will be travelling by school bus. Please ensure that all learners wear their uniform and dress weather appropriate, as well as bring snacks/lunch/drinks in a disposable plastic bag. If any learners want to order a packed lunch from the school, then please do this through the lunch app as soon as possible. We would also really appreciate if you can ensure that all names are on uniform and jackets, to support with smooth transitions between workshops and areas.

The cost of this school trip is £4. This is now up on Parent Pay and available to pay.

If you have any questions regarding this, then please speak to Miss Ronald or Miss Barrett. Thanks!

Peaceful Garden Quote Competition📚🦉

We’re excited to invite children, parents/carers to take part in a special competition to help shape our schools Peaceful Garden Area, a quite calm space where imaginations can grow through the love of reading.
The winning quote will be designed and proudly displayed in the peaceful garden for everyone to enjoy.
Hand your inspirational quotes into Miss Sawyers, Mr Howie or Miss Ward by the 13th of March.
We are excited to receive your entries! Good Luck!

Paired Reading

This afternoon, P1R enjoyed some paired reading. Learners read and explored their story with a peer from another reading group. Everyone is doing so well on their reading journey! How lucky are we to have such a nice library space to use too?! 😊

Scottish Assembly

This Friday is our Scottish Assembly. All children are invited to wear something tartan (a piece of clothing, an accessory etc) to celebrate the day.

Well done to all our hard workers in P1R who have spent weeks preparing for this special event. A special good luck to our three finalists!

Thanks,

Miss Ronald

Bee Bots

P1R have been enjoying learning about position and direction, as well as computer programming when using the Bee Bots. Today, we built mazes for our bee bots to work their way through and programmed them with left, right, forwards and backwards. Learners worked in small groups to build their maze. I think they are a-maz-ing!

Mystery Reader

A huge thanks to Hollie’s Gran for visiting our class as a “Mystery Reader” today. Everyone loved listening to “The Girl, The Bear and the Magic Shoes” and discussing their favourite parts

Thanks again!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all our P1R families! We hope you have a happy, safe and relaxing Christmas holiday. Look forward to being back together on Monday 5th January 😊 thanks for your continued support! Miss Ronald and Miss Whiteford

Nativity pictures

And just like that the 2025 nativity season comes to a close! Our learners were amazing and we are so proud of them – some even proclaimed Tuesday to be “the best day ever” 😊

Please find below individual nativity pictures for all our learners with blog permissions. Any issues, just let me know.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support!

Snack for evening performance

P1 did so well in their afternoon nativity performance today! We are so proud of them.

If children want to bring a snack for after their evening performance, then please provide a small snack for them to enjoy with a Christmas movie.

Any questions, catch us at the door! Thanks,

Miss Ronald and Miss Barrett

For our nativity, can all P1 children please bring in a white t-shirt/polo shirt and black leggings/shorts by Monday 8th Dec.  Please put this in a plastic bag with their name written on it.  Children will be able to change into their performance outfits, from their school uniform, on performance days. P1R weekly highlights

P1R enjoyed taking their learning outdoors this week for Maths Week Scotland. Learners completed a shape hunt and a number scavenger hunt in partners. Everyone did so well!

We were super busy in the classroom too – learning new sounds, reading new stories and attending a very yummy MacMillan Coffee Morning.

We’re looking forward to the week ahead and everything it brings! See you soon, Miss Ronald

MacMillan Coffee Morning

NRPS are delighted to be hosting our Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 26th September in the gym hall from 9:30am – 12pm. P1R will be visiting the coffee morning from 9:30am to 9:50am, if you wish to pop along and join your child all in the name of a very worthwhile cause. All children will be given a piece of baking and we would ask that children bring in a donation with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

We would also be very grateful for any baking donations, either homemade or shop bought. Donations can be handed in from today (Wednesday 24th September) onwards. Please ensure any Tupperware/containers are labelled with your child’s name and class so that they can be safely returned after our coffee morning.

As we are a nut free school, please do not hand in any donations containing nuts. Children with an identified food allergy will be provided with a piece of baking from the catering team.

We very much look forward to seeing you. Thanks!
