BBC Micro:Bits Live Code Along

To celebrate International Day of Biodiversity P5/6 took part in BBC micro:bit live stream, where we learned how to code a programme to count the number of plant and animal species in our playground.

We made our biodiversity counters which we will use later in the week to investigate biodiversity in our school playground.

Planting with P5

While primary 6 were away at Danger Detectives, primary 5 got the opportunity to help Mrs Sullivan do some planting for our school garden. They planted beans, cucumber, peppers, tomatoes, peas and pumpkins!

Looking forward to the harvest in September! 🫛🎃🫘🍅🫑🥒

Danger Detectives 2024

Primary 6 attended Danger Detectives at Dean Castle Country Park where they got to learn all about hazards and dangers they may come across in the home or in their local community.

They got the opportunity to visit different hazardous sites and talk with local police officers and the fire service about how they can keep themselves and others safe and how to avoid getting themselves into dangerous situations.

Primary 6 made for some excellent detectives 🔍⚠️

Bounce Back Assembly

Friday 3rd May was P5/6’s turn to present at our Bounce Back assembly. Over the past few weeks P5/6 have been learning about one of our core values, honesty.

The pupils shared their learning with the school and will try to encourage everyone across the school to take time to self reflect and be honest with each other and themselves.

DanceFest 2024

Our 7 superstars representing Bellsbank Primary at this year’s DanceFest. They danced their hearts out to  umbrella/singing in the rain Glee medley and did themselves and our wee school proud. 🪩☂️🥰

Hello Term 4

We are back and ready to take on term 4! After a well deserved Easter break, P5/6 eased themselves back in with one of their favourite spelling activities… battleships. It was lovely to see everyone back in our wee classroom today. 🥰

Goodbye Mr Currie

Thursday 28th March 2024 was the end of an era for us at Bellsbank Primary. After 13 years as Head Teacher, it was time to say thank you and goodbye to Mr Currie. At our farewell assembly some of P5/6 shared their poems which they wrote about and for Mr Currie. A bittersweet day and we wish Mr Currie all the best in his future endeavours. 🥲❤️

Museum of Victorian Childhood

What a performance from P5/6, sharing their learning of the Victorians with their families.

P5/6 have worked incredibly hard over term 3 and I feel very proud and lucky to be their teacher.

Well done team 🥰

Chess Club

Primary 5/6 have had the opportunity to join Mr Currie’s Chess Club throughout term 3. This has been such a popular after school club that Mr Currie has had to run it twice a week! The pupils have loved learning the skills involved to play chess and have also loved having the opportunity to spend quality time with Mr Currie.

“I like that Mr Currie took the time to sit with me and teaches me how to play chess.” Ayla P5.

“I think it is amazing and it would be fun if we could have a chess tournament.” Harry P6.
