Signs of Autumn

Today we went outside to look for signs of Autumn to help us create our Autumn tree paintings.  We discussed:

  • The days start to get colder because of the sunlight being weaker.
  • Leaves start to turn bright colours and fall off the trees.
  • Animals begin storing food for the winter.
  • Many festivals are celebrated and food is harvested.

We had fun looking for these in our outdoor garden.

Literacy

Weekly spelling words

Skittles

Spelling strategies- use the strategies of syllabification and words within words for your spelling words. Pick one strategy per word, not both, but make sure you have a mixture throughout your work

*syllabification- breaking words into syllables.  Each syllable will contain a vowel  e.g. sur/prise      list/en

*words within words e.g. nineteen-   nine    net   teen      theme-  the   hem   me

Complete on a word document or piece of paper and upload to assignments.  Remember to ‘add work’ and ‘hand-in’.

Bug Club(to be completed by Friday 4th September)

Continue with your reading book and comprehension.  It is really important that you make sure you read the questions properly and try to answer in as much detail as you can.

Sparrows– Dinkin Dings and the Frightening Things    Swifts– Stunt Bunny: The Great Getaway

Numeracy

Number Talks

Complete the number problem (265 + 147) or (67 + 26).  Remember to write the title of the strategy you are using.  You can write directly on the Number Talks sheet below and upload or write on a piece of paper, take a photo and upload it to your assignments.

You can use the strategies:

  • *Partitioning place value
  • *Bridging through 10

Use the link below to help remind you of the strategies.

**You do not need to upload anything for this part of the assignment.  It is all interactive, online games**

‘Hit the Button’ on Topmarks.

Protractors/Rulers– 6x 7x tables

Calculators– 4x 6x tables

It is really important that we learn all our tables as these are essential for various aspects of numeracy.  You must try to practise these on a daily basis.

Wednesday 24th June

Good morning P4. I can’t believe we have reached the end of term and this is my last day with you in Primary 4. We have had such a super year and even though we haven’t been together the last few months, you have all worked so hard with your home learning and should be very proud of yourselves. Mrs Green and I think you have done a wonderful job and I look forward to when we are all back together in August.

There are no new assignments going on today but we do have our virtual Garden Tea Party. Eva and I will be having our lunch on our picnic blanket with all our tasty treats. We will upload photos to let you see on the General Channel. Have a super day and can’t wait to see your photos.

I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat.

The closing date for all of these is Wednesday at 4pm. Don’t worry if you don’t get them completed- they will all be on the blog and you can always upload any work to the General Channel if you wish. One of the assignments is a Garden Tea Party that I thought we could all take part in virtually for our end of term treat. I have put it up today so you have time to organise it for Wednesday. Remember this is something for Wednesday so please don’t upload any photos until then.

I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. Have a great day!
