As I mentioned at Parents Night, ALL children should be working on their individual lists of Tricky Words throughout the week and having a check-up at least once a week. This is an on-going task and I would like us to continue to have a BIG push on TW spelling this term.

TalkTime Homework
T2 Homework Task 4
This week we will be writing…
A persuasive text which shows that we deserve to be on Santa’s NICE list!
Please talk with your child about how they might persuade Santa that they should be on the NICE list
What is the evidence?
Please talk with your child about 3 qualities which Santa looks out for in a person to make it on to the NICE list.
What kind of things would you need to be doing/saying to demonstrate it?
For example; To make it on to the NICE list, one thing a person has to do is…
They should then think about presenting 2 or 3 examples of evidence to show that they are this type of person and should make the list!
For example; One reason why I think that I should be on the NICE list is because I…… and this proves that I am a ……….person.
Remember you need to give actual examples of GOOD behaviour!
No fibbing!!

Please talk with your child about the different parts of a hedgehog’s body and also the use/function of these parts which are an advantage or disadvantage to the animal. They could look at labelled diagrams in their own non-fiction books or on the internet to see how labelled diagrams are useful in giving information.

STEM CHALLENGE
Design a Hedgehog Hibernacula
Your challenge is to design and make a ‘hibernacula’ or hibernation nest for an imaginary hedgehog.
The aim is to make it as well insulated as possible to keep a hibernating hedgehog warm and cosy over the winter.
You must think about which materials to use before making it and gather what you need before you start.
Your hibernacula should…
*be made of recycled materials
*be big enough for a hedgehog to have space in
*have an entrance no bigger than 13cm high and wide
*be insulated with a cosy interior to keep the hedgehog warm
*be suitably decorated
Once complete, bring your hibernacula to school and we will test each home to find out who’s is the cosiest.
